Transform > Local and the camera

I was wondering if someone can explain what is happening when you press the “transform > local” button. It changes the camera perspective of whatever tool is currently on the canvas and I was just curious why and what exactly is going on behind the scenes.

Thanks

Normally, symmetry applies to the main tool. It’s for use with subtools.

Thanks Doug, I know what the button itself does. I was just curious why a button that “Determines how resize and rotate functions are performed while editing 3D tools…” appears to also make your camera’s perspective focal length also change when you press it.
