Transform Intersect Resolutions Greyed Out [Answered]

Hello,

I am following a few tutorials on how to use ZSpheres more effectively, and at a certain point in each, they say to change the X/Y/Z resolution.

Currently, my Resolution Intersect panel is greyed out.

I’ve attempted making the adaptive skin Classic, but the sliders are still greyed out, and no matter what I do I can’t seem to make it usable. I’m new to Zbrush so it’s possible I’m missing a very simple step, but I’ve followed the tuts exactly.

If anyone has experienced something similar before, please help!

Thanks!

I believe you have to select a zsphere before you can access that, lots of posts on the forums you can search for something similar. Further reading. http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/zsphere/adaptive-skin/

What version of ZBrush are you using?

Do you have ‘Use Classic Skinning’ enabled in ‘Tool > Adaptive Skin’?

I’m using Zbrush 4 R6. When I make the adaptive skin classic, it allows me to change ALL axis values, but the actual transform panel itself it still greyed out.

Also, regardless of whethwe I select it or not, the panel remains grey.

Can you post an image of what you are talking about please?

Okay, http://imageshack.us/f/802/mdv1.png/

As you can see, I don’t have any control over the Resolution of the individual axis. If I change the I-res value, it changes the whole value for everything.

In the picture, I made an adaptive skin, and I’ve tried it without making an adaptive skin.

You have to be in ‘Draw’ mode to activate those. You are not in ‘Draw’ mode. You have the ‘Move’ transform active. So ‘Use Classic Skinning’ has to be on in ‘Tool > Adaptive Skin’ and you have to be in ‘Draw’ mode (button beside ‘Edit’ button)

I am going to post your image here so people finding this thread later won’t be following a dead link.

Could you please post any images to ZBrush Central in the future. You can use JPEG format up to a 500k file size. Thanks!

Also, I see you are still on the P1 update. There is a P2 update available. You can go to ‘ZPlugin > Auto Update’ and click on ‘Check new updates’ or you can double click on the ‘ZUpgrader.exe’ file in the root directory of your ZBrush installation.

Ah thanks! It works now, lots of parameters to get it to work lol. I guess I adjusted it too much before selecting the Draw brush so it didn’t pop up.

Also, thanks for posting the pic. I tried posting a pic in a different thread and the image was re-sized from 1600 x 900.
