Transferring UV mapping

First of all, I am sorry to interrupt you with a question which propably has been posted here before. I have watched tutorials of UV mapping Zbrush models, basically for 3DS Max, but there’s one thing I can’t seem to understand. And that is transferring the UV mapping made with Unfold3D to an high-resolution model of same topology? I think that the high-resolution subtool has to be selected, and the Unfold3D processed model to be imported to the same subtool, but it always deforms my model in a strange way. I have succeeded in transferring the UV mapping once or twice, and I can’t seem to figure out the conditions how to do that. Would be most grateful for your insight guys.

Your UV mapped model must have the same number of vertices, and in the same order as the lowest subdivision level of you ZBrush model. Then what you do is:

  1. Go to the lowest subdivision level of your ZBrush model.
  2. Store a morph target by pressing Tool>Morph Target>Store MT.
  3. Import your model with UVs.
  4. Press Tool>Morph Target>Switch.

That’s it. You can then go back up the subdivision levels and continue sculpting.

Another method which you can use is with UV Master:

  1. Select the Polymesh3D Star tool in the Tool palette.
  2. Import your model with UVs.
  3. Press ZPlugin>UV Master>Copy UVs.
  4. Select your model and go to the lowest subdivision level.
  5. Press ZPlugin>UV Master>Paste UVs.

Big thanks marcus_civis, the first method seemed not to work, but the one involving UV Master did the trick. Awesomeness.
