Transfering Detail Via Layer

I just found out that data (detail, polypaint, pose etc) can be transfered through 2 identical meshes via layers. I picked this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8uDuEkXl2g that shows how its done, the question i am having is this.

Is it possible to go from a Highdetailed T pose to a low poly posed model? so far i can keep the detail but it goes to neutral pose again  PLZ help me

Store a morph target of your pose at the lowest subdivision level before you transfer the detail, then switch the morph target to restore the pose.

Thanx for the quick reply, i find it easier to sculpt detail on a T pose model rather than a posed thats why i am trying to transfer it to an already posed. Could you guide me to how morph target and that technique you mentioned, works?

Thanks again

Just follow the method you are using to transfer the detail but before you start:

  1. Go to the lowest subdivision level.
  2. Press Tool>Morph Target>StoreMT. This will store the low res version of your pose.

Now carry out the high detail transfer. Once that’s done:

  1. Go to the lowest subdivision level.
  2. Press Tool>Morph Target>Switch. This will switch back to the pose. Switch to the highest subdivision level to see the detail.

Still confused :frowning:

1)Sculpt the High Detail Tpose Model
2)Export it (i am loosing the Subdivision lvls) Because Zbrush exports only the current LVL and doesnt keep Morph Target
3)My Posed Model doesnt have any subdivision lvls or detail (I want to get them from the Tpose one)

I thought you had already transferred the detail successfully (that’s what you say in your first post). Ignore what I wrote before and do this:

  1. Select your posed model, go to the lowest subdivision level and export as an OBJ.
  2. Select your High Res model, go to the highest subdivision level and create a new Layer (recording will be on automatically).
  3. Go to the lowest subdivision level and import the OBJ you exported at (1).
  4. Go to the highest subdivision level and turn off Layer recording.

Your pose should now be stored in the Layer with all the detail intact. To return to the T-Pose, turn off the Layer’s visibility.

Works Wonders so far :))) this is exactly what i was looking for! Now i should get more familiar with posing models, any chance you give me a start up on that  ?

Well… that’s a pretty big subject!
