Transfer Sculpt

Hey guys!

I finished sculpting on a model created in maya. Now i found a bad geometry in my basemesh, so that i have to fix it but than my sculpt is on a model with the bad geometry. So my question is, if i can transfer my sculpting details on another geometry or should i fix the geometry in maya and resculpt it.

Thank you, and have a nice day!

Hi Luftz,

A thing you can do is to export your detailed mesh at the lowest subdiv level to maya. Fix the bad polys. Export the model back to zbrush, and append it as a new subtool for your detailed zbrush model.
Then you divide your new corrected model, so it has about the same amount of polys as your detailed model.

Then it would be a good idea to make a morph target of your corrected model, so if there occures any projection errors, you can fix it with the morph brush or the smooth brush.

With only those 2 models visible, and the new corrected model selected, press the ‘projectAll’ button under the subtool palete.
And woila, you have projected all your hard work over to a clean mesh

Thank you for your answer.

I think this is working, but the problem is, that my new geometry has now a throat, mouth interior etc. inside.

If i use the Project All Button i receive all details to my new mesh, but the mout interior is damaged. I thought i can masc this are but its really tricky to masc only the throat. Is there any possibility to masc only the inside of a model.

Thank you again!

Hey,

It shouldnt be a problem.
The thing I did was to make poly grp’s, hide the mesh i didnt want to mask, and by then I only have the mesh I want to mask.

The method I use to make poly grp’s, is to roughly uv the parts in maya, that I want to be 1 poly grp in zbrush.
I put the different uv shells in maya in different uv spaces(0-1). Then when I export the mesh to zbrush it always remember my poly grp’s because of the uvs, and I think its alot faster making polygrps that way

Hope it helps.

Ok…thats a great idea!

Very cool, i will try this, thank you!

Np, let me know if its buggy
