Total & active points button keeps disappearing

I have customized my UI however I initialized zbrush recently and the total and active points buttons had disappeared. I enabled customize and moved the buttons from the preferences menu however whenever I restart they are gone again. I’m pretty sure there was a thread covering how to replace them but I can’t for the life of me find it does anyone know how to fix this?

I have the same behavior occuring here. Apparently, this is a “feature” of zbrush. I deal with it by recustomizing the ui and pulling out the points menus before beginning work.

I had to reload an earlier UI config file to get the point counters back and then reconfig it to how it was and now they stay there. Weird how they disappeared hope it gets fixed.

Edit: I found that dragging the counter buttons from the preferences menu and saving/storing your config doesn’t save the buttons where you place them. Did you restart zbrush and they were still there?

I’m having the same problem. It did this in 4r2b as well, I was hoping it’d get fixed in 4r3. Anyone found a fix for this yet?

Edit: I’ve also found that recustomizing, then saving/loading the custom UI doesn’t bring it back. There’s always a gap where those two should be in my UI.

Yeah, this one is really annoying. The only work-around I’ve found is to make sure you copy the buttons and store config BEFORE going into any sort of 3d mode. The key here is to check that the buttons read “Active Points Count” or “Total Points Count” and are grayed out when you ctl-alt-drag them to the new location. If they read with any kind of number value or are white/active when you store config it won’t work. My suspicion is that the two modes (dormant vs. active) are actually two different ui components and only the dormant kind will load on startup. If it doesn’t load the dormant button, then it cannot later “morph” into the active one once you go into 3d edit mode.

The biggest catch here is there are some other UI items that have the opposite problem…meaning they will only store in your config if you are in 3d edit mode (symmetry and Sdiv for example), thus once you go through the above steps to ensure the active/total points load on startup you might kill other stuff.

Very frustrating to say the least.
