Fabulous concept and execution. This is my favourite in your series thus far … the character is faceless, yet so very expressive. And the quality of the render is amazing.

I feel like the straps on the top of the head are just sitting there, and are not attached to the skull. I would think some texture or normal mapping would help sell this integration.

Truly Awesome, Just by viewing the image I can imagine a little story board/animation on how this character came to be a Tortured Soul/Cenobite.
It begins with a coal miner getting ready to go down the mine shaft, carring his trusted old time safety device (the bird in the cage) he begins his long days work. As the mine elevator goes down the shaft he thinks to himself (That he is a hard worker but he can barely keep up with the bills that keep comming in… he is taking care of his elderly parents along with his wife and new child. If there was only a way he could get ahead)…He reaches the bottom of the shaft and gets his orders for the day and proceedes to mine coal it’s just the same as every other day he thinks…Then his chance arrives…
His shift foreman comes up to him right before lunch and asks him to go check out a newly discovered cavern that they had just breached a few hours ago and monitor the area for hazardous gasses with his trusted bird. He thinks to himself…“This is my chance, If I discover a new vein of coal I’ll get a huge bonus maybe even a promotion”. He hurries off to the new cavern as the others in his group go take their lunch break. He makes his way through the breach into the new cavern and immediately spots a vein of gold…His eyes wided…his dream has come true… he breaks off a chunk of gold to show his foreman what he has found and that’s when his eyes catch a glimmer of light just to his left a beautifuly carved intricate puzzle box…He has found more then just the gold…and we all know the rest of the story …
