Hi everyone, all you have to do is append the zsphere to the mesh you want to retopo. Dont select a zsphere and bind your mesh to that zsphere, then try to topologize it, or you will have the problems you described. Just build your mesh(or use an existing one), append or insert a zsphere as a subtool to that mesh, then select the zsphere and edit the topology as you normally would.

Ahhh, no wonder I wasnāt able to reproduce this problem. Iāve been using the way as youāve described and itās been working fine. Hopefully that getās everyone sorted.
Thanks guys for mentioning this alternative method. It has the best of both worlds in that if Transparency is on you can see your whole mesh (if you want). Turn off Transparency and you can create new topology without any interference from the back face points.
