topology issues

hi guys wonder if you can help. working on a model which was originally built in maya. although the topology is genrally good for animation i have discovered that i need more topology in certain areas.

i no that i can re make topology using zbrushes topology tools but i dont need to recreate the entire mesh. i simply want to insert a couple of edge loops to the model.

is there a way in which i can select the lowest level of my model export it to maya, add the edge loops and bring it back in zbrush???

i have spent about 8 hours on the model and i would like to continue with my model.

Hi. Yes, you can do this but when you replace your existing SDiv 1 model some or most of it will probably blow apart when you subdivide up. This is because you added new vertices which changes the vertex order.

To solve this you can bring your new topology in as a new subtool, subdivide it up to the same highest SDiv level as your existing mesh and use ProjectAll to project the details from one mesh to the other.

If you save a MorphTarget before doing this you can use the morph brush to brush out any areas that aren’t receiving the new projection well.

I hope this helps.

thanks a lot … i get what your saying makes sense but where is the project all option???

It’s in tool -> subtools.
