Tools > Texture map.. missing or changed feature?

Hi, I’m new to zbrush and 3d modelling…

I’m following a tutorial that was written for Zbrush 3.1 (I have v 4),
so far I have 2 tools in my subtool palette

My ImagePlaneX tool should be textured with my ImagePlaneX reference image which I have made (Grey)
and My Sphere3D tool should be Red clay material… however they are both the same colour due to the lack of the Txt>Clr in the Texture Map palette… the tutorial describes using the Txt>Clr command to change the colours of both the subtools so they contrast instead of being the same red clay which I’m stuck with now.

How it’s supposed to look:

  1. To change the color on a subtool, turn on Rgb button, select your color, then go to Color menu and click FillObject button.

  2. To change the Material on a subtool, turn on M button, select your material, then go to Color menu and click FillObject button.

  3. To change the color and material on a subtool, turn on Mrgb button, select your color and material, then go to Color menu and click FillObject button.

If you want to sculpt from reference, then use the Image Plane 4 free plugin instead of Image Plane X.

If you are using ZBrush 4 then you should try and avoid using ZBrush 3.1 tutorials. Zbrush 4 has been out long enough that there are plenty of tutorials for it. For example, cannedmushrooms tutorials.

thanks, I have followed what you said exactly and I’m able to change the material and color of subjects however, my problem is that any changes I apply, apply to all my subtools, and not just the one the I have currently selected, I want to apply changes to only one of my subtools, not all of them, I’m sure there is a box somewhere that has the functionality of enabling/disabling the applying of changes to all subtools or the currently selected subtool ?

 The methods I mentioned above will fill the selected subtool only. The other subtools are not filled. They just temporarily take the current material you have selected. Select a different material and see!

If you want to fill all visible subtools at the same time, with the same color and material, then use Subtool Master.
