Tool Loading Issue.....

I have been working on a project periodically for a week or so, and it has not made it beyond a series of ZSpheres at this point, but i have been saving frequently.

today, i had to close ZBrush. i rebooted it and tried to reopen my ZSphere model, but it said unable to open file.

is there something i am doing wrong, or am i screwed and have to start over?

The model has been corrupted and there is no way to recover it.

For future reference it is always wise to save multiple versions of your work. That way you’ll be able to revert to an earlier version if something goes wrong, rather than having to start from scratch. This is a good rule of thumb with any high end application.

I personally save a different file version each time I save during a session. I only overwrite files created in a previous session.

Darn, thanks though.

just wondering, what could have corrupted the file? or is it not possible to save ZSphere models? do they have to be polymeshes?

ZSpheres can certainly be saved. It’s a good idea to turn the preview off before you save the model.

How many ZSpheres did the figure have? How many polygons was the preview of the model? Had you started sculpting it? What are your system specs and what are your settings in the Preferences>Mem menu?
