Too many Undos

I tried to find if someone else has been having this problem, but I can’t. Here’s what’s happening:

Currently, in my Memory preferences, I have both of my Undo options set to 4. I have obviously done this to help with RAM slowdowns. As I have been working, I notice that things keep getting slower and slower. When I looked in the Edit menu, I noticed that I had about 62 undos. Re-checking my preferences and confirming that it is still set at 4, I checked to see if those undos would work. I tested all the way back to 30 or so, and they all worked.

Am I missing a setting or something so that I can keep my undos set to 4? Having that many undos is killing my RAM.

Thanks!
Ryan

When undo’s are set to 4 that doesn’t mean that it only remembers 4.
It will flush your undo cache when it needs to, keeping a minimum of 4.

If you’re seeing extremely bad slow down it could be your RAM, HD space, not defragmenting your HD, other applications taking away…videos, music, photoshop, another 3d app, etc.

That’s what’s weird. It is set to remember only 4, but it is in fact remembering 60+ undos. I’ve restarted Zbrush and my computer several times. Each time I open up Zbrush, my preferences say that I have only 4 undos set, but each time I start working, it will remember up to 62 undos.

I’m on a machine that uses 3 gigs of RAM, I have 100’s of gigs of free space on my HD, and I’m not running any other programs (even cleared out some of the smaller ones in the Task Manager that I don’t need at the moment). I defrag my hard drive once a week (the last time was yesterday).

The more I look at this, the more I think it has to do with some sort of glitch in Zbrush that is remembering more undos that I have set it to remember. Has anybody else run into this? Is there a fix?
