To expedite mac version - I offer to beta test

I know Pixologic has its hands full with the Z3 release. I offer to help beta test the Mac Z3 if that will get it released any sooner. I don’t have money now to buy a new PC or set up Parallels and Vista on my Mac. I’m sure I’m not alone in this situation.

Emotionally, I feel like I’m a second class citizen. PC always come first, now, even though this release was advertised as a joint universal binary. I hope Pixologic team knows that the Mac community has to feel resentment. We have yet to see a Mac Zmapper, although one was promised. I may be old school, but Keeping one’s word is the ONLY way to maintain one’s integrity.

Pixologic guys, your work on Z3 is wonderful!:+1:
It ain’t done yet! No offence, your integrity is truly important to me. If this note offends you, shame on you, you’ve some growing up to do.

Sometimes support requires calling things as they are, and it ain’t nice. BTW I’m not nice, but I’ll continue to support your outstanding efforts and let you know when you’ve dropped the ball. That’s what REAL friends do!
You have dropped the ball for the Mac community. So… pick it up!

Get off your butts and finish the MAC PORT! NO EXCUSES! REALLY!!! Just GET IT DONE, FAST!! Please!

For my part, I will gladly lead the revolution to assemble Mac beta testers, if you need them! Any takers? :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

You know… I sure do understand where you are coming from being a Mac person with two G5Quads that I use for my illustration stuff. But I also feel that ZBrush developers have been put in kind of a tough situation by Apple’s new OS that will be coming out in the fall. My interactions the folks at Pixologic have always shown them to be class people who are doing the best they can and usually willing to bend to a pretzel shape to help.

Am I dissapointed, yeah, but not to the point of shouting and calling them out in a public forum. Take it easy, these are talented people giving it their best.

I’m a huge fan of Zbrush, too. But, In my work, the job is done when the customer is satisfied. If you say you’re going to support something, support it. I can’t work with vaporware software. I don’t get paid for making excuses, no one does. Pixologic knows it’s in their best interest to support Mac. They stand to gain substantially ($$$$) if they do. Having challenges like working with a new OS platform can provide a significant spur as it may spark further innovation. Pixologic will have the benefit of being well thought of by the Mac user base. Right now they have a growing PR problem.

As to shouting: Ancient Chinese Proverb: The Barking Dog Gets FED! WOOF!!!

jay7347: does your post mean you’ll help beta test if Pixologic needs the help?

If you click the link To Baz Mazur’s eloquent image you will see the extent of Pixologic’s PR problem re: no Mac Z3.

Willbrown, I know where you’re coming from & fully understand your point of view…

I am a Mac user & I’m currently out of pocket £150 due to having to buy Parallels & Vista, just to run ZBrush 3. When I say have to spend £150, I mean have to, as ZBrush is my primary tool. It was bad enough having to get a work around for ZBrush 2 on my Intel Mac so it worked under Rossetta, but Jason Belec came to the rescue & all was fine…

But imagine this, Pixologic release ZB3 for Mac before the Windows version, this forum would be full of rants like this multiplied by 1,000. Pix have a small team & have done what they had to do, I don’t like it, but I understand it. Pix will come through eventually I have no doubt…

Yes I would like to beta test for the Mac, that’s why I have emailed support through the proper channels & sent all the information they asked for…

Posts like this will get you know where my friend, especially with huge childish coloured text…

My eyes!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH.

“Barking dog gets fed…”
Will, in my house, and I train Border Collies for agility, rescue them, use them on the ranch and all that stuff. They know to sit and behave before they get fed. Now I’m not saying that this has any correlation to ZBrush development, but rewarding a barking dog with food sends the wrong message.

As for beta testing. From my experience, and I notice I have worked on some packages you use, testing is usually best done away from the light of a public forum.

Buckie,

That makes two MAC BETA volunteers you and me. Thanks! Anybody else?

AS to my “rant” I know how to get attention. I don’t care who I piss off to do that. If it get’s a Mac Port twenty minutes sooner, so be it. I have no intention of kissing Pixologic’s collective A$$ to get this accomplished.

Also, I know of no other situation where when you buy software you have to fork over an additional $300 dollars just to run the program. That’s bull$%%.

They need to deliver on their promises. AND they need someone to call them to be accountable for their word.

That person happens to be MOI!

Pixologic: if you say your gonna do something then, do it!

BTW If you read the post above I am not a NICE person. And I don’t care about anyone’s opinion about me. That being said, I only pick fights when everybody ends up winning!

Will (Coyote) Brown

Point taken Will but I still feel this the wrong way to go to be honest, good luck with your quest…

I can’t see this thread surving the night, before getting locked or deleted…

@Jay7347 my dog only gets fed when he sits & does as he’s told too, ignore bad behaviour & reward the good (same goes for kids too)…

Jay7347 if you want to split hairs, fine. “Squeaky wheel gets the grease.”

I’m sure you’re a fantastic animal trainer. But somtimes the old “you get more flies with honey, than vinegar” apporach doesn’t apply. When people break promises they neeed you to get in their face, and call them on it. When you break your word, however well intentioned, it dilutes your power.

And when you’re public about it, you have no one to blame but yourself when your image and reputation suffers. I don’t want Pixologic to be perceived as promise breakers. I want them to fix the damage fast, before the Mac user base moves to Modo or Silo.

They NEED TO FIX THIS. Not have a bunch of apologists, making excuses for them. Believe me, I know, they know Mac Users are pissed. But the attitude of we’ll get to it, whenever, ain’t gonna clean up Pixologic’s mess. And it is a mess. Adobe would never do this to its Mac base. They just released CS3 which is universal binary. It can be done. CS2 doesn’t require rebooting, a work around and special scripts to get it to work on the Intel Macs like ZBrush2. That’s just Wrong.

Pixologic, Thank you for offering the free upgrade. You really are kind to your customers. I really appreciate it.

Buckie.

So what if they delete it. That would be very thin skinned of the moderators. WOULDN’T IT?

If so, a quote of Jack Nicolson’s comes to mind. “you can’t handle the truth.”

I’ve been just speaking the truth from my perspective. I’ll just continue this until I have either a mac beta TO HELP TEST or Mac Z3.

I am very content to be a BAD DOG! WOOF! WOOF!

Barking dog gets fed

Its been my experience the barking dog gets whacked with a newspaper, fitted for a shock collar, an operation that destroys its vocal chords, or a trip to the pound to await euthanasia.

I do find it refeshing that you refer to yourself as a noisy animal though…most whiners dont exhibit this degree of self awareness.

Scott,

Are you offering to beta test, or are you just a a windbag with attitude? Being a self righteous critic ain’t gonna fix this. Are you willing to help?

Woof! Woof!
