Timeline questions

Hi there,
I was looking at the timeline and it seems quite useful. I have two questions, though:

  1. Is there any way to adjust the interpolation between keys?
For instance, stepped, smooth, etc. It seems that only linear (plus the ease-in/out functionality). Since I mainly want to use the timeline to switch views in the camera, it’d be great to create stepped curves so that if I separate my keys by 10 frames, I can snap to my view no matter where I click in that 10-frame interval.

  2. Timeline Annotations?
Considering that I and others use the timeline for camera switching, it’d be nice to have an annotation associated with each keyframe. While not terribly practical for a standard animation with a lot of keys, a sparse camera position animation might benefit from some reminder text, which would especially come in handy if you need to hand the file off to someone else to finish.

That’s it for now.
Thanks,
Alec

Not timeline but very useful >>> http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161588

  1. If you hold Alt and click on an existing keyframe you will get a ‘rigid’ transition, so that there is no interpolation. The keyframe changes to a square. Otherwise you can navigate between keyframes by pressing the right or left arrow on keyboard.

  2. Nice idea, I will pass on to the developers.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Axis looks like an interesting plug-in. Thanks for that tip, Doug. Marcus, the rigid transition is definitely what I was looking for in my limited use. Any chance ZBrush is going to have something resembling a graph editor or dope sheet?

Thanks again,
Alec

Alec,

I can’t say what plans the developers have for Timeline but I will certainly pass on your suggestions.

Thanks,
