Juandel, the grass was made from ZSpheres. I started in the middle and made a network outwards. From there the grass is going up and the network is made invisible. Important to have the startingpoint in the middle as first point. Now it’s easy to paint and scale/rotate the grass without using the ‘colored placement spheres’. This methode I use also for leafes and flowers and it works fast.

Hi Bas, you’re quite a Z Botanist. My question is, how are your grass blades so flat without Attractor Spheres? Looks fantastic. 50.

50’s
I made the grass flat in lowres preview. The use of magnet-Spheres should give a maze of too much balls. Doing it in previewmode I could hide parts and work on a single blade of grass

Very cool Bas, nice work

this is amazing zsphere work…why isn’t this top row already? aurick (or whoever highlights threads) snap to it!!

Great work and brilliant method with the grass! :+1:

Ok, many want to know how it works. The ZSphere-example can be worked out with more grass leafs. First make a plane and turn it in a perspective view like a landscape. Load the grass.ztl and see how easy you can paint the grass. When making more grass leafes you can bend and rotate the grass after you made it flat. With the standard tool or dragging the piont by hand. Have fun!

Oops, here it isgrass.zip (9.54 KB)

aha! :bulb: :bulb: :bulb: ! thats one zooper :sunglasses: way to grow beautiful 3d-grass, Bas! bless you & thanks a zillion

Congratulations for your top row my friend, i´m very happy for you

Best regards

PS: Pretty image :+1:

Yes a good post nearing Spring. You inspire us to start planting. 50.

Hi Bas, I just took another look at your first pic, absolutely fabulous! Can you tell me how you made the spiders web? Is it a mesh, or is it painted on? If it’s a mesh, how did you do it?

I tried to make a mesh but it did not work nice.
See pict
After rendering I placed the rag in Photoshop

very well done - and a good tutorial…

Hi Bas, my turn for “Brain Freeze” now, he he. When you say, “paint the rag”, what do you mean by rag? Is this a misprint, do you mean web? Also how do you import the photoshop layer? Is it a transparent layer that the web is on? If so, I thought that ZBrush renders total black as transparent?

Wow great! Ok… I’ll make a water melon 8-).
LN

PS:I think he’s refering to the canvas as ‘rag’.

Save the rags! lol

Brain melt-down
Web is ok. Just use the imported, scene with the painted web as a background to make the waterdrops where they have to be. Then position the drops in Z-direction, so they are near the plant.
Render all without the painted web. Import the phs file in photoshop and place the web. The web was also saved as a separate layer before.
Capito? The rag was the wrong word

Ok, thanks Bas, all clear now.
