This Maybe A Brush Question! Not To Sure!

OK so when it comes to z brush i have basic knowledge so im hoping advanced users will find this easy to answer!

i have two spheres side by side! not touching but pretty close.
i want to scuplt on one sphere on the side that is closest to other sphere!
so i pick a brush lets say the move brush!
i move the geometry on the sphere towards the other sphere.
now i end up with a sphere with a buldge in the side.
but the other sphere has a dent in it! when i move the geometry towards the opposite sphere that geometry pushes in!
how do i stop this its driving me insane!
i want to move the geometry as close as possible to the opposite sphere without effecting it!

i pray this is easy to answer!!!

Hi there,

Best way to do it would be using separate Polygroups on the 2 spheres. Like that you can’t hide the sphere you don’t want to be affected by the brush.

Another way would be masking one sphere off and sculpt on the other.
Either way, no problem

Hope that helps

thanks for the reply much apprciated!

masking seems to do the trick! althougth painting is a little long winded i might have to jump into maya (and my comfort zone) just to make sure!

thanks again

Hmmm as Maya is your comfort zone, why don’t you create the Polygroups within Maya, export the obj out to ZB and then within ZB just ctrl+shift click one of the spheres to hide it.
