update on centaur’s accessories. i’m not sure how i feel about some of the colors right now, particularly the bow. any thoughts?

also, not sure i mentioned this before, but the inscriptions on the weapons are in Tamil and say Fire, Ice and Wind for each respective weapon. hence the whitish knife handle, and reddish sword handle. crits welcome

How did I miss this utterly magnificent thread? What a wonderful creature, and fantastic skill!!!

This is absolutely 5 star Top Row for sure.

:+1: :+1:

I realyl like this a lot, but since you ask - I think the bow is to close in value to his skin. I would probably try making it darker - like the sword. that one separates the sword perfectly from the body and yet doesn’t break the overal nicely homogenous color scheme.

EricShawn - thank you very much!

Julian_K - thanks! thanks for the input! i looked at it after a few days and agreed, so i did change it.

someone in another forum thought maybe the nose rings were distracting, so i made a comparison with and without. also here are two of the other models with hair. nearly done now, maybe a few touch ups. I’m gonna have to find something to do while i wait for all this rendering though.

Great models! The centaur looks awesome, the anatomy is spot on. I don’t think the rings on his nose is distracting, I think it fits his style perfectly. Keep it up!

Cheers!

so here is my finished reel. it took far longer than i expected but it’s finally done. i ended up editing it myself. i would have liked to do something more creative but i just needed to get it done so i can start looking for a job. i’d like to relocate, so i’d consider a job just about anywhere, both in and out of the US. so, anyone feel like hiring me?

anyway, crits welcome.

edit: also, except the lady, all textures were hand painted with zbrush and touch ups in photoshop.

AR-MAN - thanks!

EricShawn - thank you, thems some kind words.

Moni-Poroni - thank you!

Beautiful pieces -> 360’s on the reel are looking great (and those real clay sculpts too :+1: ) Good luck with the job hunt :+1:

thanks Etcher!

Hello,
Ive just found your woman’s head, THANK YOU!
I wish I could share something usefull fou you guys, really but I’m just amateur with hard job and I spend my dayly 1/2 free hour watching your jobs and trying to learn.
I like all your models but the centaur is special. I haven’t read all your thread, so I don’t know if someone else has already told you, havent you thought on making it real? I mean to print it, it must be a true masterpiece.

you’re welcome! i hope people can get some use out of it. I’d like to give out some more models at some point.

i haven’t really thought about printing the centaur, or any others. mostly because it’s expensive and at the moment i want to save some money so i can get that sitting man sculpture in my reel cast in bronze.

i just made this in the last few days with the idea using it in another render with my Alex/ Johannes model, but after a few rendering tests i think it’s going to take too long to really get what i wanted, so i thought i should just move on to new things instead. now i just have a axe/ stump laying around. the axe was hand painted, the stump is a mix of hand painted/ photo reference. crits welcome.

stumpaxe1.jpg

looks good overall - but the handle of the axe isn’t convincing me. It doesn’t look comfortable - i think the grip area isn’t round enough. the stump looks good - maybe add some chipping of the bark around the top edge.

magbhitu - i think you’re right, if went back and used this i’d probably try to do both of those. there is some slight chipping on the other side of the stump, but obviously you can’t see it.

before i do any more projects i want to go back to some anatomy studies, so i made a braincase. the top half was sculpted from a polysphere, the jaw was just a simple mesh i made in maya. critiques welcome.

Very nice! your detail on the skull is awesome
