Thin surface sculpt problem

My hat rim is apparently too thin for zbrush by default. If I draw on one side it sucks it out of the other side as if it’s a plane (its not). If I mask one side it masks the other side. I tried scaling my hat up 500% but it didnt help.

Any ideas?

Under the brush menu, a new 3.1 feature is backface masking. That will do what you want, so if you brush on one side of the hat, it will only effect those visible polygons.

One glitch with that. I noticed if I try to ctrl brush to mask while backface masking is on, nothing will happen, but it’s actually applying the mask only to the other side, gets confusing. I guess if you set the strength of the backface masking to the opposite, you could temp do the masking on the correct side, then set the strength back to normal for brushing. YOu could even use that trick to mask only the side you want, then use the hide button in geometry to only show what’s masked, then you don’t need to have that backface masking on incase you need to do a lot of little masking.

Superb! That’s it.

Thanks for the quick response too
