Hey bas
thanks
Long time to see you around.
What’s up doc?
Hello guys! This Giger style stuff seems to be really fast and a lot of fun to do, i still can’t figure out how to obtain that effect and i’m pretty sure someone already made a tutorial for this…can someone help me out finding some? Thanks, and big grats to Michalis!
really cool michalis, have a good work

hey thanks,
You can take a visit on MealeaYing’s excellent thread. A very good work, an inspiration to me.
Or, for blender users but the basics fit on any app with a nice UV editor here
Of course, this is also an interesting thread
@LVXIFER
thank you!
Thanks blue.
Indeed, blender became more powerful recently. The cycles renderer, especially.
Now, having a gallery with some reliefs, a piece every 10 mins. It can be ringed, animated or whatever.
The difficult part is to construct the appropriate reliefs patterns, to be able to combine two or three together.
A massive painting with UVs then.
Daedalus
Those are gorgeous.
Naming it Daedalus and not Icarus was a good idea, one leaving it a bit of a future and a lot less fire.
…aww the thumbnail looked like a liopleurodon. Nice work anyway.
Hey mate, all ok here. The greed of Maxon forced me to to a principle jump into Modo. I payed for a lot of mudules/plugins and I had to pay again for it in the new version.
So, bey C4d. Now I’m busy learning Modo. Great software and better tools, I’m real happy!
BTW, nice images. Any tutorials coming?
Did you use BadKing’s panel brush set?
I missed it if you already answered
never seen anything like this
very cool
reminds me if meats meier was an architect for NASA or something…
Nice work, look promising.
How do you texture this ? do you unwrap everything on a sheet and paint over ?
Thank you all.
I didn’t use any brush set at all. Not yet LOL
Bas, I already posted a link on a tutorial (it’s for blender but it can work with modo too, I guess modo has a decent UV editor right?) (it has because I tried it in the past)
SUch constructions take place in 5 minutes, if you have a nice displ maps / panels library. Still just testing and developing this technic.
Of course, I can import the mesh in zbrush and do more sculpting on it.
After all, it’s an Aligned to topology displacement method/composition.
After all, zbrush’s brushes set is basically another displacer.
Another 10 mins doodle, involving more loops.
Sweet as images, Love the colour, that sort of washed look.
Great stuff!
Hehe, fun to slide the uv’s around.
If the uv space is filled you can take parts and scale them real big outside the uv space. The texture repeats automatic.
Mate, i just saw your reply, that’s exactly what i was looking for! Thank you soooo much!
Thank you all.
Learning UVs is what I do, a more advanced approach I mean.
Playing with simple loops, some more Giger like came up. Unfortunately. lol
There is nothing truly unfortunate for unintentionally creating something with a giger style. Its just a process of experimentation and trial and error. These experiments you have launched are fun :D
Tom
Thanks Tartan,
OK here something more funny. Because space Odysseys must have an end.
Really cool mr!
I wonder if Giger himself is aware of this art–? As far as I know, he’s not into CG, but looking at these posts, he well might give it a shot!
