the Universe: how many polys?

The answer to the original question is Zero. All the polgons we experience are balanced by an equivalent number of anti-polygons. These are the ‘dark matter’ proposed by scientists to explain the structure and behaviour of galaxies. They are ‘dark’ (ie invisible) because their normals aren’t errr normal.

Obvious, really.

If we do indeed sculpt in a universe of critical density then it will all eventualy collapse back to a single vertice, or singularity. When that happens the forces, not star wars forces will unify.

The answer to the original question is Zero

Moochie: this is cheating :D, although anti-polys do exist they not count -1, at least not until they annihilate with the ‘good’ ones (the big crunch), by that time noone of us will be speculating on this (but we will all be makin a toast at the Restaurant at the end of the universe :slight_smile: )

if the universe is continually expanding…do polygons get bigger or does the dude or dudette in charge use zbrush to make a difference mesh?

I would hate to be the guy who had to texture it.

If you then had to texture the universe, what mapping would you use, UVTile, GUVTile, or the boring Planar mapping?

I think you’d need particle effects too. And lots and lots of volumetric shaders and SSS.

Now we’ve come full circle…because texturing the universe with Zbrush would be soooooooo easy.

I have lots of star alphas…I’d get Jantim to mix me up some super universe type materials…have Marcus write me a script to make it faster …and then get Aurick to tell me what size texture to use…
