The Todd

Hey guys,

Please meet Todd:
[vv]47512845[/vv]

Or “The Todd” as he started calling himself after seeing The Big Lebowski on the premiere down at Sundance, it has a nice ring to it of being something more than just an ordinary Todd. Allthough no one really saw him there, at the festival, he was there. Lurking about in the shadows. As always. And no, it’s not “The Todd” from Scrubs. The only similarity is that he has a good eye for the women out there. And that they both help people…The Todd more so than anyone might know…yet.

The Todd is a character I’ve been developing for a couple of short film ideas that I’ve been carrying around in the back of my head. Any comments/feedback are more than welcome!

I used Maya and Zbrush for modelling/sculpting, Zbrush and Photoshop for texturing, rendered in Arnold and a wee bit of After Effects for finishing touches.

Cheers,
Janak

ps. is there any way to have the embedded videos displaying/playing at full size directly in the post? Thanks!

nice

Pretty darn sweet!

You could add some realism by adding eye and around eye movement. Maybe a blink.

Love it.

awesome . did you do the animation too?

nevermind, just saw you animation reel - looking great

lazy noob: Thanks

daidda: Thanks! Yeah I did try that but i didn’t really fancy how it took away from the tension. I will definitely get some eye darts in there when I extend the animation (there is more to that great dialogue). If you look closely there is some subtle motion in and around the eyes tho’. Maybe I should try pushing it a wee but further. Kinda like it where it is to be honest

arctech: Thanks! And yupp (but now you knew that already)

Great work there little indian boy!

Cool to see you sculpt stuff

When will you come by Visual Art again?

/SKoog

absolutely gorgeous !!!:+1:
… do you have any wip snapshots?

chears masc

Hi again, I was talking about the closeup one. I really have to say though your stuff is top notch.

IF you can, I am not sure cause I ain’t close to your ability. But I have animation knowledge. What could take it further, give it another leg to stand on. Is if you consider the tension in the skin, It’s not really that he lacks expression. But the way expression is created is by tensing of muscles that strain on the skin.

So if you have a “loose” skin morph target, that you throw in there between expressions. You would add a bit of realism.

I am sure I saw some animation like that. umm, thinking something like: http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/vids/gallery/dingsdale05.mov By Taron.

Again, really good stuff! Are you using the Zbrush hair in there?

Skoog: Chheeers buddy, happy to hear you like it! Weeell you guys are on the wrong side of town you know…but maybe I should make an effort and swing by some day

masc: Thank you! Sure, anything in particular that you’d like to see?

daidda: Thanks again for your kind words and feedback! Yeah I just assumed you were talking about the close up one actually  Regarding the “loose” skin stuff there is a wee bit of that in there already, but yeah that could probably be pushed a bit further as well as be refined a bit. Shouldn’t be too much of a problem actually. It’s a fine line between too much/too little of that kind of stuff, don’t want it to get to jiggly. What I would want to get in there tho’ is some driven displacements for fine wrinkles and stuff, think that would really help push it a bit further.

And no, no Zbrush hair in this one. I’ve been playing with exporting curves to Maya tho’, so maybe on the next one

Cheers guys!
