The Tablet or.....!!!

Hello! everyone,

I know my post may be pretty strange but I want to get an answer to not go fool

My problem is that I’am not using Tablet and I am sculpt with the mouse and I didn’t get a good quality and the usage of the brushes as i saw in many tutorials.

My question :" Can I sculpt well with the mouse?..I am going to buy a tablet but not now at all.Can i get a good model with the mouse?!! I tried alot but i didn’t achieve my goal :frowning: "

Thanks.

Onyic

I found the mouse horrible. I would recommend a pen tablet. I recently purchased the Wacom Bamboo touch and pen, 1024 levels of pressure, small, inexpensive. I had a Wacom long ago for Photoshop, once you use a pen for these types of programs it is hard to ever have to go back to a mouse.

wacom bamboo all the way man… you can probably get one for ~45-50$ and it’s worth every penny… when you get used to it you’ll never want to use a mouse again.

unless of course that mouse is a logitech performance mx… i managed to through some subtle trickery on my part get logitech to send me one and not charge me for it  … and it’s hands down the only mouse i will ever suggest to someone to use for modeling work. So many buttons that can be programmed by application for modifiers and macro buttons (i have it set up in topogun to allign my vertices to the original mesh so that all i have to do is press one of my forward/back arrows as soon as a i drop a new vertex point and it instantly pushed it to the mesh so i dont have to do it later) … and the dpi toggle button works wonders for being able to do amazingly fine line work and extremely clean laying down of alphas.

for any attempt to use a mouse though this is the only suggestion i would make… always use lazymouse … unless u need to put down a single point always use lazymouse… turn the tool strength all the way down to like 4-5 depending on the type of detail you’re working on… and lay out a single stroke… then under stroke menu repeat you last stroke as needed to build things up very precisely. u can also change the brush size between repeating stokes to build things up with various sizes… like if you first lay out a wide stoke then progressively lower the brush width you can use repeat stroke to build a nice straight rounded edge ridge… if you have a nice soft alpha and a nice low tool strength you can still get some good detailing.

but without a tablet theres just some things a mouse can never ever replicate like pressure sensitivity… even the most basic wacom makes zbrush feel like you’re using your hands and mind to play with modeling clay… the tablet becomes an extension of your hand and you just start plucking structure out of thing air… a mouse just cant compare there…and the only mouse that really can come even close costs 80$
