THE RiSiNG (eva 01 head)

Hey Seb,

Really inspired by this!

Just out of interest, what’s your workflow for getting repeated patterns on your mesh, like those nobbly bits on your recent post?

I struggle to get neat looking patterns like this, that don’t look like they are painted on, or stretched on curvy bits, or just out of alignment.

awsome !

OMG…!!!
I’ve been following this thread since a long time ago and never stop amazed…

Looks like you want to do the best version of Eva robot ever seen!
Only one question:
When you import base meshes from other Sw, do you go up subdividing with “smooth” off ?
I did something similar and it worked (to save edges and shape before hi detailing) but i found some problems with displacement maps generation, not good when applied to the original low poly (sub 1). Maybe i missed something with settings…
Thank you in advance :+1:

Yes Fracture, I find this worflow extremely efficient for hard surface modeling.
Sometime I just export a low res with the smoothing group import plugin.

Dustbin1, for those dots: after masking the area I want them to be, I go in PM, using the layer brush (strandard would give the same result), using a grid stroke with 50x50 tiling with a round alpha. Nothing really creazy

masking

Great info, thanks for sharing.

I second that…I didn’t know you could tole an alpha sweet.

great work and very cool techniques!

gotta love projection master!

Thanks for the info!!!

Just great!

wooa! this stuff is awesome! great detail man!!:grimacing:

Still advancing, I’m a half way to finish the back of the inner helmet.
I decided to open a bit more the lower part to show more that its a separate piece.

I consider to 3D print that model, I dont know what it would give…
So even if its not very elegant, I had to make an articulation with 2 big extra tubing
to support the lower part, I dont know if it would be enaugh…

great detailing, would be a cool print.

This is really nice work.

Really fantastic hard surface detailing. Was it all done inside ZBrush?

great work ! i’ve read the entire post your hard surfaces make me envious, five stars for me :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Seb: just a note about the 3D printing… I don’t know at which size you would have it print, but you will have to choose a HD printer as you have very thin details.
I did several printing tests and on very small details (comme le “gauffretage” que tu montres en mini tutorial), it won’t be very visible. That’s why the size of the printing, the printer resolution, the material will make the difference !

I’m very impressed by all these details and I’m waiting for the full body!

enfin de retour
great work as always!
Keep posting (idea: record all your work, you could make a great DVD out of it  ) )
i’d get it for sure

AMAZING JOB ! you can show any alphas this project ? Thanks a Lot
