Sculpted my favorite character. The base mesh is done in 3d Max, sculpting in Zbrush. It is not finished yet, still a lot of “bugs”. Also wanted to make some background… maybe. I just wanted to know how bad is it, cause it’s my first model in Zbrush, so…

Predator_zbrush.jpg

Oh, almost forgot. It’s rendered in Zbrush too.

The head looks a little wide. Something seems a little bit off with the twisting of the bladed hand at the wrist. Otherwise looks pretty good.

That’s your first model in Zbrush? AWESOME job. Well done. Must have taken a long time? What’s the polygon count up to?

This is really great. Parts of it came out excellent and other parts just need to be tweaked. Mostly proportions.

The pose is a bit weak I think.
His hands are way too small. Like maybe 30%
Head is much too small also. Although the sculpt is pretty rad.
Overall this has some great stuff going on.

Thanks for the comments!
To XxDarkMessiahxX: The head is a bit different from the original design of the Predator by Stan Winston. That’s because I have a dozens of photos and arts of Predators and the heads are different almost on the all of them. There’s a lot of tribes and sub-species of Predators, so the head size and form is varying a lot. I’ve made my version ) And the hand, I’ll fix it.
To defdaz: Yes, first in Zbrush. But I had some experience in 3d max ) But never the characters. That’s the first time I tried the sculpting. And I’ve never studied anatomy as well, so I used a lot of photos of human body. But I don’t pretend on correct proportions and anatomy, cause it’s an alien, so it’s different from us ) There is about 13m polygons and about 30 sub-tools.
And yes, it took a lot of time. About two months. But because of great lack of time I’ve worked on it for about two hours in a week. So in hours it took about 18-20 hours, maybe a bit more.
To oneigekko: The pose is relaxed ) He defeated all his enemies and standing on one of them )) I planned some entourage. Dead creature is lying under his left foot. So the the pose comes from this. And I had a lot of problems with the transpose master as well. But thanks for your comment, I’ll try better next time. And I’ll try to work on the proportions.

Started the new Predator for training. This time I want to make an ancient Predator without technologies.
Here is my base mesh.

Made a retopology for my new Predator model. Now I can add some details and armor. Retopology is made in Zbrush. Later I’ll fix the low-poly mesh in 3d max. It’s 3900 polys so far, or 7000 tris. That’s what 3d max says.

nice

Added a few details. But still need to fix a lot of things.

As a fellow fan of predators, this sculpt is looking badass.

got all the details in nicely, especially great work on the head, the cheek flesh looks and feels really taut and stretched.

if there are any crits, i reckon spend a little more time on the feet, wrists and proportions. the feet are a little bit too incomplete/short and dont look like they could realisticly balance the character when posed.

the lower half of the arm is a little bit too skinny compared to the rest of the characters beef, and the proportions of the legs to the torso seem a bit short. it may just be all the muscle, but i reckon either the torso needs shrinking, or the legs needs elongating.

good luck broo, keep up the great work

To chocolate_thunder: Hey, thanks! I’m a huge fan of predators ) And thanks for the critics, I’ll try to fix that moments. About the legs - maybe they look a bit short because of the angle, I raised a camera so it targeting a model not directly. Anyway, I’ll check that.

nice model. The grey-scale image looks nice. Although the textured model looks kinda flat and doesnt do a good job of showing-off the modeling. Maybe adjust the lighting or the materials.

To Mr-NYM: Yeah, that model was a first attempt to Zbrush. It had a lot of troubles. And render was just a test too. So I decided to make a new one. I’ll make a high poly model for render using Vray or Mental ray and a low poly for practice.

Here are a 3d max viewport screens of a low poly model with normal map, color and specular. My first experience in low poly character modelling. Hope it’s possible to convert this model to some game. Textures are 2048x2048.

Now starting to model the armor.

nice work on teh low poly and the texture ;D Only teh spec map looks a bit bizzare, also the bake is nice and clean, no real errors.

Hello everyone! Here is some progress on my low poly Predator model. I’ve made the armor. Next step is to make dreadlocks and some weapon. Then rigging… for the first time. Huh, it would be hard.

Got some free time last week and decided to finish my predator model. Done the rigging in 3d max.
Screens are done in 3d max, too. Maybe I’ll try the Marmoset toolbag later, and some other poses.

looking good man, only thing ill say is about the shoulder armor, it doesnt seem to located on his shoulder, when you put his arms down, it looks kinda weird.

Very nice.
Superb texturing…
Agree with the shoulder piece, its a bit offset, but its easy to fix…

Thanks for the comments )
Yeah, i had some problems with this shoulder piece. On the earlier screens it’s on the right place, but when I did the rigging, it started to go throught the shoulder when the hand is rised up. However, I’ll try to fix it’s position.
