Found this little statue thing yesterday while I was surfing the net. And decided to try a version of him in my style.
Went about the task in 3.1
Realized I felt like I was trying to oil paint with a crayon
Finished the character in 3.0
Anyway not done but came out a pretty cool. Got to do some high res potato sack texture for his shirt no doubt.
gees those hands need work.

Wow these multi combined objects are some fun when it comes to doing UVs
But after UVs and a little coloring on the tints, not too bad. The shoes are a little bright

The brushes and how they now function made me feel like I was back in preschool with a crayon. (wax stick sold by crayola that kids usually color with and chew on when teacher isnt looking)
But ya brushes rock all now!!!
And they fixed my favorite brush The LAYER BRUSH.
This makes up for every bug in the program. Sorry to sell out so cheap but god i love that layer brush!
how is the layer brush different to you, what did they change, i never used it much to be honest

Its really tuff to say. I lay it out side by side with the 3.0 layer brush.
Its very good for making detail on non organic parts

jason, this looks f’n great man, really like the way it turned out, if i may make 2 suggestions, make the blade of the sword somewhat visable on the left side of the image, i was confused at first as to what was in his hand, secondly and this is totally a matter of preference is to make his head glow more from within, i know glow is totally screwed up right now though.
the more i look at it the more i like it, love the simple background.

yeah i like the tip of the sword, thanks, the turntable is nice too, maybe you could set it up to best render out the turntable as you’re sleeping, hehe.
You know what i just realized, and i know you based it on the statue, is that if his head is lighted why does he need a lamp? haha.
oh btw that tablet problem i was having, it was the new driver, they told me to go back to an older one and it works now.
its nice to see a finished piece again by you, how you fit it in with all those tutorials is beyond me.
