ZBrushCentral

The new ZBC: Our first week

The new ZBrushCentral has been open for a few days now, during which time we’ve done a lot of testing, adjusting and optimizing. Certain glitches have been solved, and access to pages should now be much more responsive for all users.

Now that you’ve had a chance to look around, tell us: how do you like the new digs? We believe many features, such as new searching capabilities, FAQs and Quicklinks, are improvements over the old board.

Feel free to give us your comments, as we continue to introduce new features and enhancements to the new ZBC.

The Pixologic Team

I think that the new look is great! Love the links to similar threads at the bottom of each post as well.

Haven’t yet had a chance to check everything but I am sure I won’t be disappointed.

Very well done on an excellent job, the Pixologic Team!
:+1: :+1: :+1:

I like it so far. I like that the user has more control over how he views the forum, I like having more control over how replies look and the ability to use thumbnails for multiple pics linked elsewhere, I like the added faq and plugin/zscript forums…really needed those cuz it got to hard to find them when trying to help someone or point them to the help.

I have been getting an awful lot of “server too busy” messages lately when trying to reply to something which never happened before…don’t know if it’s cuz the membership is up so much now after the reviews in 3d mags or if it’s a glitch.

Anyway, You guys did a great job and it didn’t hurt too much waiting while ya fixed it up. Now if only I could get the time to finish some projects to post!

I love the whole interface, the tools, the colors, the look etc…
but I don’t dig one thing or maybe I don’t know how to use it.
U know when u want to post a link well It was cool when before it said Google and it was a link but now we get this. http://www.google.com that’s about it everything else is perfect!!! Thx Pix pix team :+1:

Hi everyone. This is the first I’ve been able to post on the new setup, I had to update my browser, so If I didn’t respond to some posts on my pic, my apologies, but this is great! I really like the way it looks and how it’s laid out. Everything you could want is right there. Even little details like how many viewings, number of posts you’ve done, new members, tools. Check out the different display modes, and drop down screens! Finger tip control! So much has gone into this and it’s for us. Again, Pixologic shows their support. My thanks. 50.

I love what I have seen so far. The speed also seems a bit better now.

Very nice. Everything is loading a lot faster too. :+1: :sunglasses:

it looks maybe better than old one, BUT: is incredible slow slow slow… I use speed adsl 1024 and my login is not under 2 minutes  reading of whole site not under 1 minute, refreshing 10 minutes  Otherwise am I not able to post new pictures, it “freez” and nothing more…

I am VERY UNHAPPY

Vaclav aka Abyssis

PS: where is second row with “newest” pictures??? :td:

(this PS edit: about 7 minutes :td:  )

Hi Abyssis, If I might suggest, (and I am not a Tech Person by any means) but I was in the same situation, could not post or even type in the dialogue box. I’m thinking my Browser was corrupt. I had IE5.5 and updated to IE6. Now no problems at all. And the page with the pictures and posts is the Main Zbrush Central above. Maybe this will help you if noone has other suggestion. Hope you get it fixed. Zya. 50.

Great job!!!
This took awhile.
Resemblance to CG coincidence.
Miss the “feel” of the old forum.
But I am old and we do not welcome change.
1969 must have been a busy year here.
Luck.

:+1: Really looks good! Only problem I’m having is that if I click on a ‘featured’ image I get a ‘File Not Found’. It’s ok with the recent uploads. Anybody else get this problem?

{I’m using Firefox but get the same in IE6.0.]

Otherwise great job folks.:sunglasses:

The new site looks wonderful. A great site has gotten even better. In fact, this has got to be one of the best (and in my case the most visited) sites on the net.

Like the Thread Gallery and User’s Gallery buttons and separate listing for the Monday Night Challenge. The MNC is ususally loaded with great stuff. Look forward to continuing speed improvement though.

Thanks again to the ZBC Team. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Brian

Love it !!!
:+1: :+1: :+1:

Me too!!!

The new design looks wonderful and modern. :+1:

today is the speed little higher :sunglasses:

@50’sKID: thank you 4 reply, but I use IE6 for long, long time

Anyway, I hope, everything will be better, I´m crossing my fingers 4 pixol-Team:+1: :+1:

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! We’re glad you’re enjoying the new ZBC

TVEyes: Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This was a bug in the program which converted the old board to the new one (posts between 12am and 1am were incorrectly converted to pm. times). This has been fixed, and posts should now display in the correct order.

Marcus_civis: This was a temporary problem which was fixed quickly.

Abyssis: Sorry for the frustration. There are several reasons (server-side and network-side) which might make a website load slowly. These are sometimes complicated when a connection is made overseas. Nevertheless, we have increased the bandwidth on our server, and will continue to implement improvements to ensure your pages are served as quickly as possible. Hopefully, responsiveness has improved for you, and will continue to improve.

It’s been a pleasure bringing the new ZBC to you, and we hope you continue enjoying it!

Of course I do understand problems with such big upgrade/update of this marvelous ZBC  Only I wondered about quick-flashy-speedy old version :sunglasses:
BUT: everything will be better, maybe best :+1: :+1: I enjoyed this forum very very much and I will enjoy it in the future too…

Ahh finally, additional forums. Mainly I’m happy to see the tutorials and scripting in thier own areas.

For those who are still developing/tweaking the zbc, here’s a small tip. to speed up areas with lots of little GIF’s like this message area, you can make a single image and use image maps. images grouped together with compression can sometimes be smaller than individual images. smaller = faster of course. Also since it’s a single image, there is less overhead in loading (checking cache for each image, etc) So even if the size were the same, the fact that it’s 1 image makes a difference.

It seems all my Private Messages are all gone. I wonder if it’s permanent.
