The Lonely Mr. Scrim

Very nice work man! I really like the old guy :+1:

manzarek123: Thanks so much for the kind words. It really excites me about the entire film as I truly believe the visuals hold up throughout the 9 minute film.

Disco Stu: “You can never go wrong with characters with big noses”, Amen to that =) I see what you mean about the calm attitude for such life changing events. Truthfully, I threw the trailer together in one night just cause I was dieing to show something. You work on something for 9 months, ya wanna show it! Thanks again.

SolidSnakexxx: Thanks!

Captain Sensible: Thanks Captain. It seems like a character you would like. You see, hes slightly base on my father, who just happens to be a captain in real life. hehe. He’s a fun character. In the film you learn a bit more about his passions and his trade, which is bird fishing =)
Anyway, thanks for checking out the trailer.

-Eric

I love the characters - great stuff

I like your style, it reminds me a little of the Lloyds bank type animation…great stuff…

andy.chen: Thanks!

AgentEnigma: Those commercials are awesome. Thanks =)

nice lighting, funny looking characters, I like.

aesis412: Hey there, thanks for the comment. There are 5 or 6 other characters in the film that are along the same line as those shown in the trailer.

Thanks,
eric

Hello everyone. I recently put my film online and would like to invite everyone to check it out.

The story is about a man who lives with his dead wife in a house built on a tree, which grew from a barge that floats on a sea. His life is turned upside down when a giant evil corporation threatens to tear down his home and put in a mall. Things get more complex when a strange creature appears. The film was created entirely by myself over the course of about 10 months. All rendered at 1080hd thanks to the use of renderrocket.com's online renderfarm service. Which I highly recommend. I'm not an animator by trade, so the animation certainly needs quite a bit of work. The film is currently doing the rounds at film festivals. Though, its not going as well as I'd hoped. But I get it. The film certainly has its flaws which I have thankfully learned from =) Story, story, story! Anyway, You can view the film here... [http://www.vimeo.com/6494690](http://www.vimeo.com/6494690) For those interested in the film im currently working on (an 80's film in the spirit of The Goonies, The Gate, and Monster Squad), you can check out the blog for it at [http://radicoolfilm.blogspot.com/](http://radicoolfilm.blogspot.com/) I'll be looking for help from animators. Hint hint =) Thanks so much. Enjoy!

CoOL… :+1:

so… its “UP”?

nice,wonderful feeling!

Nice !

very cool animation.:+1:

That’s one odd story…
Lemo

Is this job voluntary or paid? Great image too, he would be fun to animate, the mustache should be its own character.

When I read “The film was created entirely by myself over the course of about 10 months.” I was thinking: “Can this be good? Render looks good, but”.

This was awesome, and the voice and background music made it perfect

This certainly have shades of ‘up’. But I would still applaud this one man job. Love short films like this. =)

If ya check out the films blog, you can see this was started 9 months before “UP” was released.

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I’ll post more info/pics soon, but for now I just wanted to make it clear that I was not copying “UP”. As if I could =P

Thanks,
-Eric

excellent work!

i think the animation came off looking more stylistic than unskilled… it was well done

and the only reason the story might not work (in my mind at least) is that it’s not logical… lol! but it’s really funny to think of a corp. wanting to build a mall on a barge in the middle of the ocean… hahaha

somebody compared this story to Pixar’s “UP”, which i haven’t seen, but i doubt it will make me say “WTF!” like this movie did!

fantastic job

cheerios

zayacoon: Thanks!

sculptor.zb: Glad ya liked it.

slorpthegillman: As I stated before, you can see on the films blog that I started the project way before Up came out. Hopefully you were able to enjoy it =)

fshayong: Thanks!

RamRam: Animating 9 minutes in 10 months was not easy. Glad ya liked it.

lemonnado: Odd for me is nothing new. Hopefully you enjoyed it.

womball: The project was done in my free time. About 5-8 Hours a night. I’ll be looking for volunteer animators for my next film (I know, good luck . But hey, maybe theres a college animator out there who wants an imdb credit =P)

VictorCS: Glad ya liked it. I should mention that the voiceover work was done by a very cool dude named Kip French. If you check out his site you can see why I used him. http://www.kipfrenchvo.com/

GX@W: Glad you enjoyed it.

invertedNormal: Yeah, the animation looks almost stop motion to me. That wasn’t by choice, but it worked out since I dont have much skill in that area. Im all about the WTF moments. Glad ya liked it.
