Its been a while since I posted anything. But that certainly doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on personal projects. This little film of mine has swallowed the last 9 months of my life =)

Anyway, im excited to finally post some shots and the trailer for my new short film “The Lonely Mr. Scrim”. The story is about a man who lives with his dead wife in a house built on a tree, which grew from a barge that floats on a sea. His life is turned upside down when a giant evil corporation threatens to tear down his home and put in a mall. Things get more complex when a strange creature appears.

But here are a few quick details.
The film was created entirely by myself. The run time is about 9 minutes. All rendered at 1080hd thanks to the use of renderrocket.com’s online renderfarm service. Which I highly recommend. I started working on the film in Oct. 08. The film is narrated by the main character (Mr. Scrim). Software used: Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Shake

The animation is far from the best you’ll see. I am not an animator by trade (modeler/texture artist). But, this film made better for sure. So, maybe about 5 more films before my animation is up to par. =)

The film will be sent off to festivals towards the end of the month. I will more then likely post the final film in a few months. Thanks for checking out the trailer!

Intervain: Thanks. Yeah, the trailer comes off pretty dark. Much darker then I feel the actual film is.

Hey man nice work!
You can never go wrong with characters with big noses ^^
I love the shoes he has on.
The trailer looked very nice even tho it was maybe a bit calm mood
for so many lifechanging questions.

manzarek123: Thanks so much for the kind words. It really excites me about the entire film as I truly believe the visuals hold up throughout the 9 minute film.

Disco Stu: “You can never go wrong with characters with big noses”, Amen to that =) I see what you mean about the calm attitude for such life changing events. Truthfully, I threw the trailer together in one night just cause I was dieing to show something. You work on something for 9 months, ya wanna show it! Thanks again.

Captain Sensible: Thanks Captain. It seems like a character you would like. You see, hes slightly base on my father, who just happens to be a captain in real life. hehe. He’s a fun character. In the film you learn a bit more about his passions and his trade, which is bird fishing =)

I'm not an animator by trade, so the animation certainly needs quite a bit of work. The film is currently doing the rounds at film festivals. Though, its not going as well as I'd hoped. But I get it.
