There has been a lot of simply fantastic work posted this year so far, but I rank this as the BEST 3d work I’ve seen in 2008. The idea, composition, colors, mood, textures, render…all amazing.

you repeated that the render setup is nothing special, but I am sure, many of us would be more as happy if you would like to upload us a simple scene file with your mental sss shader as well as the light setup…
as model, a sphere with some depth, curves, or scratches on the surface, so it looks like the crab or some of your other cool renderings…
also interesting the DOF effect, you did in max, or post ?

I treid to use hte FAst SSS Hader in mental ray, and I also would like to use the displcament map… but the sss shader, doesnt’ have any map slot for using a displacement map…
hmm, so how you use for your renders the sss shader plus displacement map ?

Capu , to have a displacement with an sss material, use the “sss fast skin+ displacement” material, just above the sssfast skin classic
