Greetings fellow Zbrushers, Im JJP3D and this my first time posting at Zbrushcentral. The work on this forum has so inspirational and educational for me throughout the years. There are so many great modelers and sculptors on here and I hope to one day be able to create works just as inspirational as you guys have been for me.

This piece is called “The Last Siren”. In times past, the sirens have lured and wooed sailors and heroes to their untimely demises. Well heroes have gone on the offensive and exterminated all of these beautiful creatures…except one. This cunning siren has an ace up her sleeve, or below her island. The creature provides her with protection and she in return provides him with food (as you can see)!

The base models were made in Maya and Max and the rest has been done in Zbrush.

Feel free to leave critiques and spirit crushing criticisms .

I appreciate the feedback, and yeah she does seem kind of cold. Its a hard knock life for him. Here are a few more renders from the creatures perspective!

hay a loverly model a few things that is bothering me thow. is that he needs to have more wait like if he is trying to pull him self up. i agre the woman needs to be more wurryed and it would be cool if hte creatuer could have more wieght to it. but it looks a loverly model and well zbrushed keep up the good work.

Some crits

The male looks like he is no doing much of an effort to stay alive, a bit emotionless

Same for the female, but she could use allot more emotion, more distress. fear you name it, you must try to put yourself in her position, o my god my loved one which just said i will marry you has been snatched by the beast of depth.
I` will pull you.

So what you could do to make the interaction a bit better is letting her pull his arm, hand. and for him, lets see some muscle and veins to show he is trying his uterly best to hold on to the edge.

I agree the males arm should maybe stretch more. The muscle show tightness with more shadows.

The females emotion isnt supposed to be sadness. as the OP said, the sirens lured males there to feed her guardian. The male being eaten isnt her “love”. So perhaps she should appear proud at her job well done.

Fantastic though. Some small tweaking and it will improve dramatically.

Hey guys Im enjoying all the critiques, I agree that the male doesnt show as much weight as he should. But in regards to the siren being worried, she wouldnt be worried considering that she wants this to happen. Her and the creature work together. I will post some more images later tonight.

You’ve made the mistake that I made and you didn’t read JJP3D’s story behind it. You assumed the girl actually gave a damn. She’s more than happy to see the guy be ate by the monster.

I totally agree though, the whole thing looks too calm. But once you understand that the she doesn’t care then it all makes more sense.

But still, maybe it would be nice to see the guy struggle a little more. :slight_smile:

Really great first post! Some of the critiques are brutal and not so helpful but some are good. Overall really great!!!

Ha nice then, i understand the scene now, thou i think then it should read better in the way of she is not giving a damn for a reason, because at the moment it looks like she nearly gives a damn, but just not enough.

Thats why i got the impression she should give a damn :slight_smile:

Really love the concept and the sculpt! I agree that it does feel a little too calm.

Perhaps posing the siren with her mouth open, singing her siren’s song would really help sell the concept more?

very cool concept - sorry to hear she’s the last
one, but I suppose it’s a rough time to be
mythological :smiley:

Would be cool to see a lure shot, without the guy
where she’s singing - monster in repose… see some
great things happening with her hair + dress.

again, very cool sculpt!

It would be pretty hard to pull off, and probably make more sense in the actual lure part of the process. Maybe she just needs a more sinister/satisfied look on her face.

A great idea and a very nice first post!
I too would like to see the man straining and struggling more. I also agree with some other posters that the siren should perhaps be singing - this after all is what she does to attract men and would give you a reason to show the man still struggling to reach her even though he’s being eaten alive.
