The Insect Creature ,Dvd and Tutorial.

can ne one tell me how do i post my images on this thread.?want to share my creations e\with all of u.:stuck_out_tongue:

Look I know all the fanboys will flame me for saying this but I don’t really like this piece :frowning:

I think the anatomy is good (appart from the underside of the hand) but the rest is just a mixture of texture tests. It just looks like a model when I am testing new brushes to be honest.

Really sorry dude but I don’t think this is top row material here. It’s good but I remember when being top row used to mean something REALLY special.

I am sure now if I ever post any work on here people will slate it but I am sorry it is just my opinion and that is what the internet is for I guess.

S

I think its incredible. I have a feeling that painting it would make it look a little less like a collection of texture tests… its great as it is though.

Really nice Alex!! Fantastic work as always. I will have to pick up your DVD download on that site

Scott

Start a painfull task !
It took me 2 full days to download it
I think this is caused by this paranoid thing concerning scripting the files.
I respect totally the concern of Alex against the pirating BUT PLEASE make something softer and more transparent,
Its not nice that way to download … Really, even if it worths it

Michel
Disapointed and never ever will download anything here …
Sorry if my english is not as well as everybody else

PS : Scott I bought your book : a very good one !

great work ! as i said before …its very inspirative !

Really nice sculpt man …

Good work

This is really nice. But I’m curious about the uv’s of the original mesh and how it can be carried over to maya or max,…or xsi. If you are using zspheres on the original mesh,or,… if it is ā€œretopoligizedā€ and exported out of zbrush and how the uv’s are carried out. After all, uv’s determine the diffuse on the mesh…
All pipelines need a nice uv setup so it can be textured, so I’m not too clear here on how the uv’s are setup.//// thnks

And with this release…you just became my new best friend.

Thanks for putting this together and bigger thanks for the extra XSI portion, as that was equally informative. Off to re-watch the video and re-learn what I’ve learned.

Scott Spencer-great honour a reply from you Scott ,thank you!!

skulll_monster-thank you buddy!

Elendil-thank you!

BetaRayBill-Thank you! well i dont can explain it very well to you . I did my base in XSI ,and you can try export your mesh with uvs ,that way you can use normal and displace maps, that way sure you can use the texture from zbrush to do a render in XSI , Maya or Max, there are many ways to do it ,however ,my intention there was just show how to sculpt in Zbrush ,how to us the brushes ,etc…just a concept in Zbrush ,thank you!

Teyon-Yes i love XSI too ,thank you!

Art as always…pure art

is possible to see a screen of the base mesh? Do u create the base mesh from scratch?

tnx master

Far out man!

Alex, if I may be so bold as to attempt to answer - BetaRayBill (my 2nd favorite Thor by the way) , ZBrush allows you to sculpt and texture without concern for UVmapping. To get the information out of ZBrush, you can simply save your sculpt as a morph target at the desired level, import the UV’d version which replaces the object, then hit the switch button. Voila! you now have a sculpt with UV’s that can be used to generate displacement, normal, diffuse, specular…anything you want. Hope that helped.

Also, XSI has some nifty tricks for uv handling too, which could make the whole process easier.

Sorry to hijack your thread for a second, Alex. I hope it wasn’t too much of a bother.

Wow, man, this is wild! :+1: I’ve browsed through your threads, and don’t think this is your best work of expression, but it’s definitely different and detailed. I love your sculpting style and admire your focus on studying forms. To me, that’s the most challenging, and best part of it all.

I would like to ask, is the guy ā€œtransformingā€ into an insect creature? I think he’s laying on the ground changing into the monster, because his feet and legs aren’t in a standing pose, but I can’t decide. I like how his anatomy is altering though, such as his right arm and hand growing. Very cool stuff.

Alex, you say that you are currently working in the texturing tutorial, when will that be available? I could not find any information at www.binarydivinity.com so far.

Thanks and again, good work.

Ramon

Looks great , bought it , something to watch when i’m not playing warhammer online … (damn addiction…).

I have the same problem as someone else in this thread though. The download is incredibly slow and I am on a 1 gbit connection ,after starting the first file download , I couldnt log back into the site to continue with the rest of the files, it keeps saying ā€œconnecting … please waitā€. I’ll check back later perhaps.

ItĀ“s a great work!!! Just amazing…:grimacing:

I hope to be in your level one day…

Did you notice the speed dofference between your payment and your download ?
Alex , please do something !!!
This is unfair for your customers !!!

Well I figured out my problem , the site does only allow one thread to be negotiating with it, this means that while downloading 1 file from it, most functionality of the site is shutdown until that download finishes and you can start the other one.

My download was around 161 kb/s , which is acceptable , since I had time (it didn’t take me an entire day or anything), but quite slow for a connection capable of 10 mb/s.

Being able to download several files at the same time multithreaded, would have been nice though.
I got the DVD and will watch it tomorrow, for the future I would consider more capable hosting services though, this one seems to be a bit amateurish.

I get CRC errors when I try to open the first and fifth .rar’s. I tried sending a message with their ā€œcontact usā€ link a couple of times, but I haven’t received a response.

Love your work, Alex. But this is frustrating.
