the impossible - two different models, do them only once?

Hi,

got a question, not sure if there is any way to pull this off:

I got a nicely modeled character in zbrush based on a basemesh from maya. Now I had to redo the basemesh, it essentially looks the same but the divisions are different, the edgeloops are in different places (the head is untouched) and the uvmaps are different aswell.

Is there any way in the world to use all the subdivision levels that I already have with all my detail on the new mesh? As I said above, subjectively it looks the same, same size, same proportions, its essentially a low res optimization with different topology.

Anybody?

yep, very simple

look in to project all, and mesh retopo using Zspheres.

to project the mesh
simply load the model . ztl
import the new mesh . obj

draw the .ztl on the canvas
append the obj as a subtool
divide the obj to a similar polycount as the .ztl
have both visible and the .obj selected.
store a morphtarget of the hi poly obj
tool>subtool>projectall

wait for it to do it’s thing

check for major spikes on the model…use the morph brush to push back those areas and then resculpt where needed. (eyes, ears, where fingers meet, etc)

it is usually easier to find the spikes, then switch the morphtarget and use the morph brush to bring back the details avoiding the areas that need to be re-sculpted.
