The human anatomy and 11 systems of the body

The human skeleton is a serious task to undertake! Really nice job and WIP! Keep it up!

This is a superb WIP thread. The work on display is truly inspirational to us mere mortals and thoroughly deserves its place on the top row!

Thank you for sharing your progress. :+1:

I am back on the case after being glued to Z3 for learning and am so excited and amazed. I spent more time tahn anything playing with matrials, altering topology, all them new brushes and discovering the best thing of all for me, being subtools. Anyway here is a hand nearly complete that i am working on right now. Any crit on this is very welcome, especially on the carpal bones :-). My production process has changed a little now as i can make the other bones seperate and put together at the end, although everything is still made using Zspheres. Thanks loads for your comments.

Aamazing hand and whata great thread man keep it up!

First class work.

I’m wondering just how far you intend to go with the fine details. Bone has incredibly fine detail when you get right down to it (not to mention many of the organ surfaces), and Zbrush is perfect for it …as long as you have the horsepower to handle it. Otherwise, you certainly have the skill for it.

One Crit… urm… give me sec… urm… I know I can see someting wrong here…Mmmmmmm…Urm…

Oh I give up! it’s all good!

Well done!

Nice hand, great attention paid to realistic look.

The work in this is awesome. I keep hanging out for more updates. I noticed 3 small spheres, 2 on the thumb and 1 on the pointer finger. Are these normal or just something particular to the reference you are using?? (As he feels around his thumb trying to find 2 small round bumps)

Keep it coming!!!

You are doing a really cool stuff with the zspheres… being honest, you’re bringing a great anatomical reference for us… thx for sharing :+1: and keep posting plz

Thanks loads for your supporting comments. Lachd, those little bones are called Sesamoid bones. In my images they are actually too far up on the thum as i have shown them on the First proximal phalanx (first big bone in thum) and they should be actually on the First Metacarpal (the bone hidden in the palm of the hand where the thum joins, you can actually feel them there. Sorry about the missleading image)
A sesamoid bone in anatomy is usually a bone that is embedded within a Tendon. They resemble sesame seeds when they are small. The largest Sesamoid is the Patella (knee cap). We have some in our feet also and A common foot ailment in dancers is sesamoiditis

Arran,

Beautiful job. 2 quick crits. As you stated above the sesamoids at the thumb are in the wrong location. Likewise the sesamoid that you have dorsal to the index metacarpal. This should actually be on the palmar side. Also the hamate needs a little more definition of the hook.

Great job.

Thanks embee for that. I keep going back and making changes, sometimes due to silly mistakes and sometimes due to finding new imagery and study, and so i am very grateful for finalising the position of the sesamoids for me as i noticed i was seeing a photo i had the wrong way and couldnt find some good research imagery on this to confirm, but now it seems obvious, (slaps head) :slight_smile:sesamoid-bones.jpg

Excellent work.

Forgotten most of the bones in the human body except for this little ditty…

Never Lower Tilly’s Pants Mother Might Come Home

Novecular, Lunate, Tillipate, Pissiform, Greater Multangular, Lesser Multangular, Capitate and Hamate.

8 small bones in the wrist.

Any other anatomy ditty’s like this?

Wonderful work!

Are you going to whole hog and designing the muscle system as well? Organs, Skin? Majour ateries and blood flow system?
Male and female?

How far are you planning on going with this.

Are you going to have these renders available for us to study later on?

In any case your work is tireless and beautiful to look at. Well done. This is so far my favourite thread here at ZBC.

My kindest regards and respect, Dusty.

I have been very busy this past week or so, with plenty of hours playing with light and materials and more importantly many hours spent on modeling the bones of the foot. I have snap shot some of teh stages which i will post at a later date. Once again this is all zbrush Zspheres-Material-Render. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and thanks lots for the interest in this thread. I will hopefully eventually do all the systems, but the plan has changed a little as i rather do a few systems to a really good standard than rush them all, so it may be some time before they are all done. The main use of all of this is for medical illustration as I will post some images of the complete skeleton, also showing 3d illustrations of replacement joints and showing other medical uses.

sesamoids of the foot to follow

Some m ore work on the skull. Changes to proportions, teeth, details, looking for more realism than last edit. C&C welcome.
