The Boxer

Fantastic work!!

Sweet!

Money bet on this, top row in less than a day.
(deservedly so)

That’s punching!

very nice, just 1 thing - looks like you used a very thick brush for those veins of his. oh, and just a tad too much blood, and should be more on his top lip & chin than the sides of his neck.

love the SSS. beautiful otherwise!

I totally agree, IF your going for a single shot. If you want a before and after this is perfect. I think combining them would give you a stronger image but both are awesome :+1:

great rending and testures man, congratz.

your skin shader is awesome and the anatomy is really good.

Unreal work man

i think the blood is a bit over the top on the second pic, especially the drips on the chest

they don’t seem to be coming from where he is cut

i also agree with above, a bloody victory pose would be fantastic

Fantastic work! My favourite is the first picture.
Great modeling, texturing and lighting!
:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

thanks for all of the good crits. i agree with all the blood comments and the cavity map being too strong. i will tone down the blood. I will post the zbrush mesh later today

Thats looking really good. I do have a suggestion about the skin - maybe the cavity is too strong on the areas that are defiying the muscles. Otherwise, well done!

Sorry, you already replied about the cavity - my bad:)

there is also some kind of problem with a seam/texture/polygon below his neck, by his collarbone.

not sure if you know about this ?

wow, thanks for all crits, guys. i am always amazed at how helpful the comments are here, compared to the other forums. I will definatly tone down the blood on the chest and fix the veins in the arms. in the meantime, here is the zbrush mesh.

just curious… but when was the last time you where in a fight ?? seeing as your an expert on where blood will lands ? just curious…

Well, to address your curiosity, how many fights does Digital_Vulture need to be in to be in to express that he “thinks the blood…is over the top”? None, actually. He didn’t express belief that he was an expert, just pointed out that something looked a little out of place. It isn’t even necessarily about perfect accuracy. Sometimes accurate things just don’t look right, or feel right, and sometimes other people’s eyes really help you find those things. Sometimes they can’t even say why it doesn’t look right, but something seems wrong. Growing as an artist is at least to some degree about that search for why? In this case maybe there are too many streaks, maybe they are too straight, too evenly spaced. Maybe they don’t meander the way liquid often does when running down surfaces even very smooth ones, like a window pane. Maybe they are all about the same length which just adds to an orderliness which doesn’t seem quite right. Observation and reference are some of an artists greatest tools. In other words, I doubt that he has to be an experienced MMA fighter before he can comment helpfully on the look of the blood.
Red Republik - nice sculpt, a little more tweaking and you have a piece to be proud of!

well i am just saying. and as i said i was just curious. plus i have been ar martial arts for 17 years of my life (full contact) and i was a bouncer for almost 5 in a rough club until i quit. just saying the way blood behaves is something you cant always predict is all i am saying. no need to get on your horse and get the upset army out :laughing:small_orange_diamond:laughing: most people would think it’s “over the top” until you actually experience it

Very good work!
the way you attached muscles in the neck to the skull in the back view creates a “hole” a bit too deep . If you soften it, it will be even more perfect!!
i don’t know if you understand what i say  sorry for my bad english (french guys  )

Easy, Ryzzhan no worries about the horses and the army - they are WAY back home…asleep:) My point is that your first post implied the other guy had no business offering crit. I’m just letting him know, you know, and anyone else reading this thread that ZBrush central works best when there is the open flow of constructive criticism. They are entitled to post, just as you are. In fact, as you pointed out, you have real experience in the area this image is depicting, so any crits you have from that perspective are totally welcome. I invite you to give crit to the artist, that’s what we are looking for when we post here. Everyone is just trying to get better. Ok. Enough on that.
