The Black Pearl

Thanks.
I don’t know when the movie Suckerpunch is coming out. At Comicon the statues were part of a ‘reveal’ of coming products for the next year so I don’t know a date.

I work on a mac. I have Zbrush 3.2, which is great when using GoZ and Modo 401.

Hey thanks, on this thread page 22 and forward are Zbrush screen shots.

Brandon, As always you are setting the bar way too high for us mortals. Thank you for sharing your work. Congratulations my friend!!!:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:

har har Gabe. I’m treading water to keep up with half the people on these forums.

Hey Brandon! this is some amazing statues you have done! I was watching the photos of the sdcc on flickr and I was amazed by those without knowing they was done by you and in Zbrush! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1: instant classic

I just went through the whole thread and it’s literally all amazing, great job! I really like the babydoll.

Do you mind sharing just a super simple explanation of how you make clothing folds? I know lots of reference and practice but I mean tool wise, do you use any special brush or just standard/clay+pinch or something?

this question is probably inappropriate, but what do I have to lose. How much does someone at your level make in what you do? Just ball park, 50k+, 80k+, 120k+, etc. Don’t answer if it’s not cool I understand.

Bar has been raised yet again! Fantastic work so clean.

I must ask how you you get such clean patterns on your models. For instance the cloth on Dexter or the lines on Ambers gloves?

Anoth3rBozo: Cloth is different on every photo I see, the way it stretches, wrinkles, etc. So I try to have lots of reference photos and accentuate the wrinkles when I make them in Zbrush, super accentuate them but keep them realistic at the same time. It really is maddening sometimes.

Sasquatchpoacher: UV mapping and working with alphas for Dexter’s shirt. And that was before Zbrush made it’s own UV mapping plugin. I used Modo, but now I would use Zbrush’s way.

Lil’sister: Thanks, that’s the best compliment! The 3D printers get better every year. Pretty soon every detail you seen in Zbrush will be printed out perfectly.

Hey I just wanted to say Kat Sapene did the painting on all those statues and she did a great job!

Awesome, Brandon. I believe you do the best work in the business. Seeing these in progress inspired me to push myself farther than I thought I could go. Thanks.

Will

Hey Will - thanks.
This is Will - I work with him, he did Sweetpea (the third statue), the blonde with the machine gun! He did it in Zbrush too (and Maya).

awesome… you guys rock!!
Thanks for sharing!

Incredible work Brandon, you just raised the bar again. How long do you work on such great sculpts and how many subtools? Is Modo better than Maya for modeling because I am gonna purchase one and I want it pure in a sculpting pipeline. Cheers and keep it up.

Friggin awesome! What more can I say?! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

wow,i think your thread in Zbrushcentral is a Pearl for every aspiring artist here, great job on every details, irealy like to know how you did hairs on your characters…:+1:

I wish James Cameron would have been ballsy enough to show the Na’Vi more naked like this instead of strategically placed braids of hair to cover nipples. It’s lame to do it just for a certain rating. A bit like when the clergy would make the artists slap fig leaves on their statues.

Awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…Gr8… :+1:

Absolutely gorgeous! I love the pose!

Would you mind saying how you did the braids in Zbrush?? I would love to know!! Thank you!

Your work is really awesome! :+1:
Would be great if you could show some workeflow of how you made Dexter’s hair. I always had problems in “sculpting” hair.
