The baron

If I faced this dude in battle I would hate to trash his armor.

Enormous.

This is astonishing work, I have been watching since you started and did not know what to say then and still don’t.
I think you have set a new standard for what I want to be able to do.
Thank you for showing us this.

Cheers,
Mealea

hello everyone.

Here are some views of the baron all around

panta, i will have to think about sharing my alphas

nicknitro, i ll try to explain what i had in mind because there s a method in my madness. My idea was doing everything, every single piece in three different levels of details. Each level would be created by a different technique/pattern, was intended to be visible from a certain distance.
i ll try to explain it with a couple of snapshots.

snsh1.jpgsnsh2.jpgsnsh3.jpg
so level one is the big stuff that are almost part of the geometry
level two is the curvy things that look like stalks
level three is the same flowery pattern everywhere as if the blacksmith had a tool to make the same imprint again and again.
*there are some exceptions in the helmet or the shoulder pieces level 2 is different
Also in the picture had a lot of noise because it was a snapshot of my screen in realtime rendering, i did it a bit in a hurry.
hope i explained it.

sammehsamurai everything has been retopologized i ll upload some basemesh pics later to show the topology.

mealeaYing i took a snapshot of your comment and i look at it everynow and then to cheer up. thank you

Dayum. Stunning model, great material too. Perfect amount of detail.

Impressive work, Spyrodona.

Great Job man :+1:

absurd details i like it a lot…the only little thing i dislike is the heels (i don’t know if in english is the correct name for the spikes behind his boots)…anyway in general we have a masterpiece here
Can’t wait for more

The serfs grow increasingly tired of the brutal and irrational treatment they are subjected to at the hands of their lord.
The Baron is a feudal knight of a militant and formerly prosperous fiefdom with coffers swollen only by recent land grabs.
During a campaign for further territory acquisition the Baron was made awares of a tomb on the outskirts of a neighbouring lord’s manor.
While rumoured to contain the dowry and burial tributes of a wealthy aristocratic couple struck down in their prime by
a virulent and pernicious illness that had wracked the local countryside, it was said that grave robbers have superstitiously avoided the loot.
After the Baron had dashed their remains about the crypt while ordering the collection of anything of value, he returned to his own estates.
He began refusing to be seen outside of his armour, and a horrific stench emanated from both his person and quarters.
He had his smithy refashion and modify his armour in seemingly illogical ways which should have rendered it unwearable by a normal person.
Servant girls consistently went missing when attending him in his private chambers, and he became a rare sight outside these rooms.
His lands lay in disarray, and his subjects starve and flounder.

Keith Thompson

@Lvxifer:
In English they are called spurs, they are a sadistic and incompetent method of forcing a horse to do what you want, especially when they do not want to.
In Italian they are called, I think, cavallo speroni.
The Mongolians despise the use of such things and their enemies found out why the hard way.
I adore Mongolians, they treat horses better then they treat them selves.

I don’t want this to be the final render, but I am greedy and this is a feast for the eyes (though perhaps not for the nose).

Now I need to look up this Keith Thompson.

Thank you again for this and I’m far more than happy to cheer you up.

… at the end Zbcentral is good to learn english too ahah
