Hi all,

These are two characters im working on for my new showreel. Unfortunatly I can’t spend as much time as I would like with these pieces (Life) I am hoping to complete them both soon

With this model i am hoping to create a normal to re-create the details in another package (softimage or 3D studio) im hoping it will impress a few game studios (hoping hoping hoping!!)
all the detals on the commando’s uniform need tightening up and smoothing as well as a little more definition. But please let me know what you think or what improvements i could make

Hi fellow ZKids!!

this is an update of my Commando model with added skin detail such as pores and so on.
Im quite happy with the skin details but I could use some crits on the colour map so let me know what you think :smiley:

617 views and no comments. That is just unbelievable.

This is top notch work, ZedHead, the torso looks strong and convincing. For me the ear is the weak link, but as you say, its work in progress. Keep it up!

great start, but he seems to be missing something…ahem…down there. it’s funny how everyone just seems to skip that part. not even a hint of it. :lol:

I’m in the same problem as you, trying to impress game studios. The problem is the level is really high, such as : http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=30559

If you can not do the same thing, don’t even try looking for work, because those people are overwhelming with resumes and demoreels, and getting in nowadays is like mission impossible.

Don’t get it the wong way : I don’t try to discourage you to work there, but rather to make you understand the real skill level you’ll have to reach ! So, just one word : Work ! :wink:

As for your guy, you are putting in a lot of hard work, but it seems he is too thick. You should check the Schwarzenegger thread to compare the two anatomies, and fix those problems.

Phil conners: Thanks Phil, was getting a little lonely there. Yes I agree the ear is a weak spot, basiclly it was poor planning as the ear did not have enough subdivisions so when I try to sculpt the ear deforms really badly. Im probably gonna turn it into a corniflower ear as that would actually suit the character of the model.

industripop: LOL yeah i don’t know what it is but I never like modeling that bit. Fortunatly the character will be wearing a loin cloth so i might be able to get away with it.

Davlin: I too have seen the reels that have been coming out of the VFS school (wish i could go) and been very impressed. But I am confident in my ability to match that standard, as you say hard work!!
with regards to the body thickness did you mean the commando or the barbarian?
