The Adventurer

This is my latest project I’ve developed while attending a CGMA master class and it was the first time I engaged in creating a realistic character. I’ve definitely learnt a lot from the course and from making this guy. The idea behind The Adventurer comes from my passion for adventure movies, but it was chosen especially for the multiple challenges that this type of concept presented: how to portrait the face skin that has been weathered and damaged for instance and how to utilised XYZ Textures in an efficient manner.

During the sculpting process, I enjoyed the polygroup feature that Zbrush presents, because it allowed me to focus on single elements without being worried to compromise other part of the model. In addiction I tried to organised them in such a way that vaguely resemble the face anatomy so I could see more clearly the face proportions.

The general model of the button shirt was done in Marevelous Designer but all the high frequency details were added in Zbrush using different custom brushes and alphas.
An other ZBrush feature I found useful is the layer tool that allowed me to test different approaches without affecting the overall model.
