Test render out your displacements in Turtle for Maya.

The setup is faster an much simpler than in Maya/Mental Ray, there is further no need to convert the tif files from ZBrush in an external application before using them and it renders faster.

Yeah Jacob, exactly why I use Renderman and such compliant renderers. Maya is such a pain, but a solution should exist for everyone - still working on it.

I tested Turtle and it’s really great.

corbier, in mental ray render, it looks as though the displacement map is getting blurred somewhere in maya–did you check that?

Ok, I am having a different problem with Morph Targets. When I click the “SWITCH” button I discovered that my original model and the sub-d version are no longer aligned with each other. The model which was evolved in the ZBRUSH appears to have moved from the origin(?)

Has any had this problem?

Apparently, using subd. in Maya -> Mental Ray overrides your displacement. So, I’ve been using a polysmooth node instead of a subd. surface. Here’s a brief tutorial:

Low_stress: Try clearing the pivot point before switching morph targets, Shift + P.

head_front.jpg hello mates…i made a base head mesh in MAYA with proper flow, then i will work in ZBrush…then i want to bring it to MAYA again after finishing it in ZBrush to make it an animatable mesh, how do i do it? do i do it through displacement map? if i hav to do it through displacment then how? and i have to apply texture on it with hair, how do i do it? whether i aply texture in MAYA or ZBrush? plz help i am new at ZBrush and MAYA integration
