Texturemaps

I would like to make texture maps, export them and then bring them back, along with bringing in textures and obj’s made elsewhere. But I am having problems figuring out how. So here are my questions:

  1. If I create a new object in ZBrush, what exactly needs to be exported so that the object and texture marries together in another 3D program?

  2. What must I do with this same textured object to see it textured when I reload it back into ZBrush on another day?

  3. How do I bring in and reattach the texture for an object that was created with another program (or is it the same as the answer for #2)?

Exporting and importing textures in Zbrush is quite complicated depending of the case. But you need first to be specific about your needs. Each program and each pipelines will require different settings. For example perhaps you only need to export a color map and that is perfectly fine. But perhaps you need to export normal maps, etc and in this case the settings depends of the program that you want to use as target.
