In working on my tutorial of the warrior in the practical guide following each step. I’ve run into a problem with the texture. After painting on the head I decided to save the model, when asked about saving the texture I said yes. After Zbrush finished saving my nicely painted texture is now showing up as square patches randomly placed around the head. When I reload the saved version it also displays this way. Any ideas of what I’m doing wrong? All I did was save the work.
Thanks
David
Hi flytrap:
I also experienced the same problem…and about to post the very same topic. Can anyone let us know?

hi guys…haven’t heard of anyone having this problem before so I gotta few questions…
are ya on macs?
did you also happen to save the texture on its own?
did it ask to embed the texture with the saved tool?
umm crap I had a few more…dang it i forgot now…
anyways can ya up load a screen shot of how the saved tool with saved texture looks?
A guess would be that somehow the texture is flipped on saving…try clicking flip vertical in the texture menu and see if that fixes the problem.
otherwise without more info or visuals it’s kinda hard to tell.
Hi aminuts. Thank you for trying to help out
My machine is macintosh. My system spec is
Dual Processor G5 2 Ghz
OS 10.3.5
3 GB RAM
160 GB HD
ATI Radeon 9600
I did not save the texture on its own. What I did was using Projection Master to paint…Everything looks cool and neat on P.M. and all right after picked it up. BTW, my model was about 2 mil + polygons and the texture size was set to 4096 x 4096. Only whne I reopened the tool thent he texture got all strange. flytrap, did you get the same thing I experience? I think I can try to post what I mean tonight…
Yong

I work on a
Pentium 4
Gforce 4
2 gigs of memory
80 gig hard drive
Windows XP Pro
I tried flipping the texture. Did not fix the problem
Thanks
David
How did you map that? It’s been awhile since I did any of the tutorials and don’t have it in front of me so don’t remember if it tells you how to do that or not.
You can check the uv’s in the tool menu> textures> there is a button called uv check…if any red shows up you’ve got overlapping.
If it told you to use say guv tiles…You need to make sure you create the texture first!!! at whatever size you plan on using…say 4096x4096 then go to tools>texture>guvtile.
my guess from this picture is that you hit uvtiles before creating the texture and therefore it used the default 1024x1024 which of course will not work out to good!!!
Activated subdivision 1
Created a texture at 2048 by 2048, then pressed new
assigned UV coordinates Tool>Texture>GUVTiles
Returned to highest subdivision level
Used Projection Master adding detail, dropping and picking up around 10-15 times.
Everything looked fine
Went to save model
Saved texture with model
After saving finished model suddenly changed into what you see.
Loaded saved model and it was in the same condition.
Started over and haven’t had it happen again
