Texture Mapping

Hey All,

First of all, I love this program. I’m using Zbrush 4.0 and am planning on attending the online Computer Animation program from Full Sail University. I’m kind of excited about that.

Now for the question. So I have been reading and working out of the Introducing Zbrush book from Eric Keller, and of course the version he is using is not Zbrush 4.0. So there have been differences in how the tools react.

I’m on chapter 5, and in the beginning its’ “Loading an Image into Zbrush” section. I’ve gotten up to drawing the imagePlaneX.ztl, however after switching to edit mode and applying the fast shader and white color(step 5) in step 6 it refers me to open the texture imagePlaneX.PSD. I do that, however step 7 states that the texture is mapped onto the planes with front and side…Nope, it definitely doesn’t map anything.

So what is or how do I, get the texture to map, because now I’m supposed to map the skull “texture” and that isnt going to work at all via the current instructions.

Help, I want to proceed. LOL

Ok so I found, that even though I loaded the texture in the left hand Texture box, it doesnt load onto the surface as per the book, however on the right hand side I found Texture Map menu and I was able to load it from there and voila there it is loaded just like the book shows but not said.

Just for those that may have the same issue, now whether this is what I’m supposed to do or not, I dont know. hate not being able to follow the book precisely.

Good work!
Thanks for posting your findings. So many times someone just puts down “Nevermind, I found it.” but never actually says what they found. This makes searching the forums a pain for new users who think they found exactly what they’re looking for only to be left hanging.

Hey,

I only did what I’d want to see. It is nice to see a response from the original poster if there are any findings. This is such a great tool. I’m falling in love with it all over again, especially now that I’m understanding it better. I switched to 3.1 so that I could follow the book more closely. Only problem, is that my older version is a trial because it’s what came with the book LOL.

Happy Zbrushing to all.

Sean

ps. I will be learning this even more with my new schooling at Full Sail University woohoo!
