Texture map not getting created from Polypaint (answered)

Hi Gurus,

Apologies if this is a repost (desperation). I am sure I am doing everything right but, after coloring my model when I create texture map (using new from polypaint) option, my texture map does not reflect the color I intended, instead it shows the skin color only. :confused:

This is made wierder as I have already done two models using the same technique and it has worked before.

I tried it on the default dog model, it gets screwed there also, the texture map created is inocorrect and stretched.

Please HELP

Could you show images of what is happening and your UV mapping? This will help people help you.

Regarding the second item, it sounds like your model doesn’t have very good UV mapping. That will result in things like stretched textures.

I’m having the same problem as Sudesh. I notice that sometimes when I try to do the texture from polypaint that ZBrush won’t respond for awhile, even though it’s only sucking down 25% of CPU resources and not that much of RAM.

Once it starts responding again I’ll push up some pictures.

I’m also having this problem when I click the “new from polypaint”:
Process:
After making a ‘sphere 3d’ initialized with a 32 Horizontal divide & 33 Vertical subdivision count, converted to a polymesh 3d, I then fill the object with a color and paint some dots on it.

HOWEVER, when I go to the texture map and click the "New from polypaint" button, the whole object is filled with a flat color-the original fill color (here):

This totally breaks Zbrush 4 for me, I can't even work in zbrush now until I find out the solution to this problem! ~Al

default meshes inside of Zbrush do not have UVs assigned to them yet. you need to assign UV’s to the sphere to be able to create a texture from your polypaint data.

That’s it! and I just found out that the tools I made in prior versions of Zbrush just need to have their UVs deleted and reasigned–using PUVTiles for my creature heads–, before doing the ‘new from poly’ texture button.
