Tex Mapping Problems

I am having problems getting my Tex map and Disp map to map properly in Cinema 4D. Below I have described briefly my steps to hopefully help you understand what I did and hopefully help narrow the problem down.

Steps
First I imported my mesh, then sculpted and saved the ZTool and Document. I then lowered SubDiv to 1 and created a UV map using PUV. I just selected my map size 1024 x 1024 and then selected PUV. I then did a “Check UV” and my mesh greyed out a little so I suspect that means a UV was created. I then clicked the “Texture On” button to turn off UV Check and my model returned to it’s default color. Is this the correct procedure?

I then upped my SubD level again and started Polypainting and did a tiny bit of sculpting. After the Painting was done I created a Texture from my polypaint and then exported that texture. I then created a Disp Map and exported the too.

Finally I lowered SubDiv level to 1, then used the default settings (Txr, Qud and Grp) and then selected “Flp”. I then selected the Export button and exported the mesh as claw.obj (the same .obj name as I imported into ZBrush)

I saved my ZTool and document after I completed the Polypaint but I did not save my ZTool or document after I created my Tex and Disp maps. Do I need to? This is the only thing I think I may have missed but I don’t see why it would be the problem.

I can’t figure out what I did wrong as I thought my steps were correct. Obviously I am missing something though.

Thanks

texture>flipV

or flip it vertically in an image editing software

ZBrush depict mesh UV`s Y co-ord differently than other package

When its up in ZBrush, its down in others, and vice versa.

You have to flip the texture vertically in order to get it map properly in other packages

Thanks Goat666 and Zenneth. That worked! The only problem is that I only have C4D “Core” and so a lot of Disp. Features are missing.

I used a HyperNurb and increased it to 4 but the displacement still doesn’t show up on render.

If anyone has been able to get Displacement working in C4D Core I would love to find out how. A shame maxon would cripple this as Displacement is very important and they’ve lost me as a customer.

If its last year, I would have recommended XSI Foundation, but they dont make the cheap one anymore,

What`s your work scope? Do you need to go as far as rigging and animation?

I dont know about C4D, but therere some other packages available

Id recommend Luxulogys Modo.
http://www.luxology.com/
It got a pretty decent list of features for its price

Thanks Zenneth. Yes I am impressed my Modo’s toolset as it is very advanced considering how young the company is. I just am tired of having to buy separate modules for Cinema as it get’s really expensive fast! I think I may give Blender, Modo or LW a better look.

It`s not really that surprising, since The guys who created Luxology were the ones who worked on LW and left due to management issues
Modo also got GoZ compatibility

Put a hold on LW
With LW, they are phasing out for the new reconstructed LW Core,
Many people are still concerning how it`ll turn out

Thanks, I’ll wait to see what comes of LW.
