What a great thread this is. Excellent for learning about ZB’s capabilities too.

What a charming cuty series
Your classical movie as italian films (Antonioni, Fellini) or all old american
Your B&W can be also Audrey Hepburn
Great stuff guys.
We need to start a Paint Brush Archive for all these wonder brush styles on this thread. Maybe like the Texture and Alpha palettes in other threads.
I did a search here and at the Wiki but did not find any collections of paint brushes.
So I was thinking we should start one.
Any ideas? :qu:
marcus_civis…that’s a great serie …i like the etching effect, made with metal shader, i believe ? The washed ink looks great too !
…Did you found a cure for the “negative” alpha inprint in bristle mode !!

Frenchy,
this thread has been a great idea-- thanks!
marcus_civis,
I’m really enjoying jantim’s explosion of variety, and you show us something very different. Inspiring effects!
BTW, your impasto [cali_oil.jpg] reminds me of the famous portraits rendered as fruits and vegetables… Cali shown from peas, peanuts, berries and bean dip!
Thanks for all the inspiration, guys! Watching this forum is a powerful multiplier… this newbie appreciates the generosity here.
…Davinci
Thanks for the comments.
Frenchy,
Yes, the nonpareil Audrey is my inspiration.
jantim,
The etching effect is simply an adjusted fiber material. I’ve used the depth brush and a variety of custom ‘3D’ brushes, no ‘bristle mode’ so I don’t get the negative alpha problem.
Davinci,
That’s a fun idea!
Cheers,
to make a naturel media effect of pen and watercolor i used a metalshader and plain brush !
marcus_civis…have you tried to simulate pastel ?..perhaps with a Fiberbrush setting !

PS
Are you painting drawing at the “double” of the 500*500 and reduce it after?
jantim,
I’ve tried chalk. Again this is a 3D brush - the Spherinder using a freehand stroke and reducing the spacing, Zadd off. No material necessary just use RGB. The background is a ‘paper’ alpha I created which gives the brush some pixols to react to. If you adjust the Imbed slider in the Draw palette you get the brush skimming the surface, just like chalk.
Very inventive technic
Maybe as someone said above the Wiki here should be archive a data base of some Brushes regulates
Frenchy,
That’s a good idea, I shall see if I can add something. I also have in mind to do a zscript because some options are much simplified by a little scripting.
ZB’s ability to use a background of your own making is very creative.
Your last remember the Shikuri Zbrushing
(don’t miss this incredible gallery about Go and old Paintings The IGS Art Gallery
And yes a script for manage a Paintbrush as you want will be a task
I did. I’ve found that I don’t have the knack for getting anything out of zbrush that looks passable w/o aahalf enabled.
marcus_civis…that chalk looks impressive …you produce very convincing natural media effects !
Frenchy…i work BIG and scale down in photoshop !!
jantim
i work BIG and scale down in photoshop !!
The BIG trick!
jantim,
Thanks, and you are the Master of the Styles.
Frenchy,
For the record, mine are all the same size as done in ZB.
