Tangent vector displacement maps

Has anyone succeeded in getting a decent result with Tangent Vector Displacement maps from Zbrush in Mental Ray in Softimage, Maya or Max ? Object and World coordinates work just fine, but it seems mental ray does not like the Tangent variety from Zbrush.

And I need the tangent flavor if I want to animate my characters with a vector displacement map.

I’m using Softimage 2013 myself, but I found some threads with peeps from max and maya indicating it’s not only a Softimage problem. It seems to be either the the way Zbrush creates vector displacement maps, or the vector displacement node from Autodesk is biased towards Mudbox.

Is Pixologic aware of this problem ? I noticed 4R5 has been released today, and I was hoping the issue would have been addressed, but it does not look like it.
