Tablet setup, and issue with masking 3D meshes

Hey guys,

I am having two issues which I can’t find any clear direction on how to fix, neither are bugs, just things I can’t seem to work out from the options available;

Tablet issue
The pressure I put on my tablet immediately impacts the Z-intensity of my stroke. It’s making for some very inconsistent brush strokes so I’d like to figure out how to turn this off. I tried turning it off directly on my tablet but can’t find an option for it anywhere so I’m hoping there is some way to do it directly in ZBrush?

Masking issue
The masking issueis in a specific scenario - when I insert a 3D mesh (such as a cube) and try to mask by alpha, I can create some nice masking effects, but when I try to modify this freehand I am presented with the error that I have to make it a polymesh 3D before I can sculpt.

I do not want to sculpt, and I do not want to make it a polymesh 3D just yet - I only want to freehand adjust the masking a little bit. I tried turning everything off (zadd, zintenisity) but it still thinks I am trying to sculpt. Is there any way around this?

Thanks!
Tebs

As far as I know you can apply masks to parametric objects only in the masking menue by rows and columns. If you want to use your alpha mask you have convert it to a mesh object.

As for the tablet, you can find options for how it is used under Tool: Tablet Pressure and Preferences: Tablet

Thanks for the replies.

On the masking I was actually working alongside a tutorial video where the guy was able to mask an area by hand before making the object a polymesh3d which led to my confusion.

It might have been an older version of Zbrush but it looked pretty up to date so they must have removed the feature pretty recently.

You are right I just tried it you can apply masks to parametric objects. I did not know that. Try to use the MaskRect brush.

Ah awesome - yeah that one seems to work… not as precise as i’d like but it works. In the video i was watching it looked like he was able to use the MaskLasso also but doesn’t seem to work for me.

This is great for now though! Thanks for the help.
