Tablet latency problem

I’m not sure exactly what changed but I’m getting a lot of latency when using my tablet. I’ve made sure that I have the most recent drivers for my tablet model and I have also made sure that Wintab service is disabled (that used to be what caused all my tablet issues).

The latency is only when I first press the pen to the tablet surface, after that there is no latency in drawing (once pen is in contact). If I press and hold the pen down, I get this mouse icon next to the cursor.

When I switch to using the mouse, there are no problems with latency or cursor icon, telling me its a tablet issue.

This makes its difficult to adjust the cursor size or do fast swipes with my stylus since the stylus has to move some distance before it is read.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

System specs:
ZBrush 4R2
Wacom Intuos 3
XP 64-bit
8 gb of ram

Thanks in advance!

windows machine? mac?

If mac, IDK. If Windows make sure you have your pen and touch settings set up correctly. What machine are you using? I’ve never seen that icon before in a windows environment. If it is a dell, toshiba, etc then it is probably bloat ware that is killing. Check to see what all came installed on your machine and remove the extra crap.

windows>pen and touch>pen options(tab)>press and hold>settings…>enable press and hold for right-clicking (make sure this is turned off)

Also make sure your flicks are turned off, this can also be done in the pen and touch settings.

Im running Windows XP 64-bit. It looks like the press and hold for right clicking is the issue. Maybe the windows tablet pc settings are interfering.
I cant seem to find the pen and touch options. Is this under the Wacom Tablet Properties in Control Panel?
Also, I cant find Tablet PC in the Services list, in Administrative Tools. I see TabletServiceWacom but nothing else.

Im not sure how this all got switched around but reinstalling the Wacom drivers did not have an effect.

It looks like that if I start Zbrush with my tablet plugged in, everything works fine. I think the “push and hold” problem is from plugging the tablet in after Zbrush has already been running, or unplugging it while its running.

Occasionally after saving I will loose pen pressure. Restarting Zbrush seems to fix it.

I used to have a problem similar to this on Photoshop, where pressure sensitivity would not work at all if I did not have the tablet plugged in prior to starting Photoshop.

Hopefully it stays sorted out for now, back to the fun!
