Here’s a little test animation of a T-Rex. Base model and animation in 3dsmax, detailing and quick texture in Zbrush. Needs work on texture and rendering but I’m getting used to the modelling tool set in zbrush first.
…a little red ?
Is it in fury
Pilou
I like the tail…very smooth swinging Would love to see full detail and texture work done on it.
Modelled mostly Wings, detail in zbrush and animated in max
Nice work!
Are you using Displacement map for the teeth?
I still am haveing trouble understanding gometry and Dispmaps.
my models are always bloated in Maya.
If i use the default Headtest (from zb2) i can get great renders in MentalRay and TURTLE, but if i try to use any model i create in ZB2 they look like their in anaphylactic shock.
The tail has some nice movement. You need to pay more attention though to the t-rex’s weight and how gravity would affect his body when he takes and places a step. If you did not render a floor, he could have almost been floating in zero-G moving his legs.
The teeth where separate polys stuck on. I was going to do gums and a tounge but my intension is to try and model and rig something to be animated. I will go further in detail on new models.
Sadicus: I had exactly the same ‘bloated’ problem as you with displacement maps. I realised it was to do with there not being enough definition between white and black values in the displacement image hence I think the displacements where more or less uniformly projected out. I changed this so that whites where brighter and blacks darker and this fixed my problem in 3ds max, hope this helps.
Sirquadalot: Yeah I agree. It was a quick and dirty animation to test deformation, however I do need to practice more in this area. cheers
Thanks for the tip! i’ll work on more contrast in the DispMap.
yea, i think the tail is cool:)
i can’t wait till i get as far as what you’ve done!
once i get predictible results with Displacement maps, 'll be working on some animations.
