Symmetry with automasking

Hey Folks,
Is there any way to use automasking with symmetry? I used the “Autogroups with UV” to create polygroups based on topology and UV layout, but this for sure won’t create symmetrical polygroups. I.e. the left wing won’t belong to the same group as the right one, although they are symmetrical. Thus when enabling automasking, this prevents the symmetry from working. Is there any way to fix that, except grouping all symmetrical parts (quite a few;)) by hand?

you can just group the wings. select the wings and hide the others. then go to tool>polygroup and click group visible.

Because it is a hard surface model, consiting of around 30-40 independent parts each side, this would take some time, I was looking for a way around this fiddling work;).
